What's new

Alan Rickman (Professor Snape) dies....

Colonel Brandon has left the building.

One of my favorite actors. Of all the recent celebrity deaths, this is the one that saddens me the most.

Sorry but I don't care.

I don't understand why every time anyone with any amount of fame dies it get shoved in our face and everyone acts like they are saddened by their death.

I just don't get it. It's probably just me

I also didn't care when that british singer from the labyrinth movie died (I forget his name), that heavy metal dude from metalhead or machine head or whatever died, or robin Williams, or Michael Jackson, or princess Diana, or heath ledger, or Amy winehouse, or tupac (loved tupacs music though and it sucks he can't make more. Still not sad about his death).... I don't know any of those people and their deaths have no affect on me.

My wife's dad died about a month ago and that made me really sad. My grandma died recently and that sucked. I always get sad when someone's dog dies.
People die every day all the time. Idgaf about when a celebrity dies.

I think many people (and I'm not saying you don't, fish) appreciate great art and great artists. It's something that us everyday Joe's can't relate to, just like we can't relate to truly great athletes. There's a beauty in that greatness that we respect and admire and in many ways, worship. It's something so rare and fleeting that to watch it leave this world, the mortality of that art's creator known to us or not, is saddening. At some point in our lives, their art did something for us; it provided great reprieve, joy, insight, oblivion, you name it. Art can do many things for us, and for a certain artist to die, while I agree, should not and does not affect me/us in the slightest really, I still find it sad that said greatness can truly never be recaptured.

This is a scene from one of my most favourite movie of all time - definitely Top 5.

Love Actually - it's a scene where he's trying to secretly buy a Christmas gift for his hot secretary. Two GREAT British actors at the top of their game.
