What's new

Donald Trump

So this pseudo-tough guy is skipping a debate because he's scared of Megan Kelly?

What happens if Trump is the president and he can't meet with Putin because he's scared?

What a dumbass.

I've heard this line of thought before, mostly from Cruz and others who are trying to profit from the whole thing. I actually am going the other way on this. The GOP/Fox News Network are, in some sense, a revolving door. Semi-popular former politicians frequently land there for shows and specials (Huckabee, Palin, Gingrich, etc.) The groups have historically needed each other. Trump is the first GOP person we've seen actively go after Fox News and declare that they need him a lot more than he needs them. And he's probably right, in all honesty.

If Donald is framing himself as a truly different politician (he's not, FWIW) then this is a move that reinforces the message. He's not going to play by Fox News' terms of engagement. He's probably the only GOP candidate in 15 years who can say he honestly gave the party media machine the finger.

The fun part of this, from my perspective, is a) if Donald is right that no one watches by comparison if he's not there and b) if the debate largely focuses on Donald in his absence anyway. Part B seems sort of likely, but you have to give Fox News credit for somehow making themselves the story here.

No doubt plenty of others have pointed this out, but the Republican Party is now getting devoured by the monster it birthed, nurtured, fed, pampered and shamelessly pandered to since Obama was elected. That one of its nominees in the general presidential election is likely to be a wholly unqualified, bigoted buffoon or an ultra right wing, evangelical extremist whacko bird who everyone, and I mean everyone, hates, neither of whom of has any chance whatsoever of winning the general election, and whose nomination threatens to tear the part itself--well, I call that the most sublime example of schadenfreude. You (Republicans) have no one to blame but yourselves for this mess. Instead of spending so much time wondering why moderate, rationale Muslims are not speaking up against terrorism, you should have been wondering why moderate, rationale Republicans were not sooner speaking up against the extremist, nut cases who you've enabled to take over the party.

It is very satisfying watching someone else finally pay the piper on a million short term moves.

Would that it were true.

I saw on tv the other day that trump said something to the effect of "my voters are so loyal that I could kill someone in cold blood and they would still vote for me"

Wish I could remember where I saw that.

Hope it wasn't Saturday night live or something

He had a good chance at winning the primary. But the general election will be disaster for him.

Also Franklin* you can champion Clinton all you want. I don't trust her and I don't buy her patriotism either. She's self serving IMO.

I get where you are coming from. All politicians are self-serving, even if that is being a selfless patriot wanting to change the country for their version of the better.

Anyone wanting to be the leader of the most powerful country in the history of mankind is self serving.

You realize your games don't work on me right?

I wouldn't seek out Clinton to be President, but I'm perfectly comfortable with her out of that group. I've voted none of the above the last few times, but if Trump v Clinton is on the ballot I'll vote for Clinton.

If Trump v. Clinton is on the ballot I will either vote for a third party or write someone in. No way I'm voting for either of those two.

(Same goes for Trump v. Sanders.)

I think she is simply not trustworthy at all. I have 0 confidence in her desire to help America at all. Same with Trump.

I think Sanders genuinely cares and he seems like a honest man. I just don't like the tax stuff I've seen from him. But I am by far the least familiar with him.

Trump and Clinton are no goes for me.

Yes, my feelings exactly. Except for I know enough about Sanders' proposed policies that he becomes a third no go for me.

*edit the same might also go for (Clinton or Sanders) v. Cruz. Still making my mind up about whether I would vote for Cruz under any circumstances.

You don't like pragmatic politicians who play the game? That's basically the definition of a politician. Sanders is an ideological nutjob, the left's version of Michele Bachman. Sure he is sincere, but he is bat **** crazy too. I'll take the sincere, well rounded politician like HC 100 times out of 100 over the nutjobs that we've seen run the last two cycles.

HC is the most qualified and the smartest among this group.

The smartest politician of the group is about to lose the nomination after being a confirmed front runner for the 2nd cycle in a row.

I'm hoping not, man. There's no way that Ted Cruz could be a responsible leader for the world's most important country. His level of integrity is similar to Hillary's.

As one who is left wing, I am loving the depressing crop of nominees on the right.

Lol you guys are really gonna elect this guy, won't you? smh... Americans...

SMH as well, and I'm from here!

But it seems like his support here on Jazzfanz is pretty minimal. Knew there was a reason people often say the Jazz have some of the smartest fans in the NBA. :-)

https://taxfoundation.org/article/details-and-analysis-senator-bernie-sanders-s-tax-plan

Some points:

- over 10% less bring home income for me and my family per check

- increase to payroll taxes on the employer side

- financial transactions tax

- Increasing my tax burden to 1/5 of my income.

Edit: The government does not need more of my money. They need to cut BS spending (I listed 20ish items once in some thread on here as an example) Also they are terrible custodians on my tax money already. Why would I trust them with more? No thank you.

He is rocking out about 1/3- 1/2 to registered hard right. That is a far cry from voters on the left or middle voting for him. He has done a terrific job allienating as many non white males as possible.

I think people who get cut or isolated from the world more than usual tend to grow a higher level of intelligence because they don't have to busy their brains' electric gateways with social BS of the daily routine. Maybe we can adapt this description to Utah as a community.
