Jazz Sign PG Eric Green

Never said that. My point is that DL has done very little for people to anoint him as some kind of rebuilding "genius." Too many have bought his "don't skip steps" mantra as being the gospel truth on how to build a successful contender. I've pointed out other teams that have used a combination of the draft, trades and free agent signings to build. Utah and DL have been cheap and ultra-conservative, DL has made several missteps and shifts the blame to others as a "CYA" strategy (Burke was the guy CORBIN liked, boo hoo).

He got trash for Kanter, and as mentioned, has done virtually nothing with 2nd-round picks to identify or even TRY to bring in players who might strengthen our putrid bench. At the very LEAST, take a flyer on a Euro. Two years ago he punted on a very high 2nd round pick when guys like Clarkson and Jokic were still available. Last year he choose Hanlan and then SOLD the other pick. What, exactly, does selling a pick for cash accomplish, other than giving the Millers an extra hundred thousand or so? For a guy who has brought in, what, 80-90 players the past two years for pre-draft workouts, who has he "found"? Better to just save that money and then just look at the DLeague stats to find scrubs to fill in like Millsap, Johnson, O'Brien and now Green. Pretty cushy job he has. PG_AB with homey as his Dleague consultant could do a better job. Oh yeah, and he gets the FIRST pick in the DLeague draft and a chance to secure the best non-rights held prospect out there. So who does he pick? F'in Ayres, an aging scrap of a player. Guess he owed him for services rendered in SA.

I LONG for the days of KOC. He had the balls to trade up for DWill and draft Hayward. He didn't STOP trying to make the team better so young players could "develop," No, he went out and got players like Okur and Boozer to deliver a WINNING team. DL has had a wad of cash and done nothing with it, This organization is CHEAP. And it will continue to be CHEAP until all you gullible people stop buying merchandise and tickets and start voting with you feet and DEMAND Lindsey field a winning team.

You're really going to judge DL on this year? If Exum didn't blow out his knee and improved, along with Favors and Burks staying healthy, we could be sitting at 5th or 6th in the West. Not bad for a core around 23 years old eh?? KOC played for more the short game, and while gratifying, it ultimately was his weakness. The Okur/Boozer front court was as porous defensively as you can get and would always be capped. AK didn't help matters by entering into an eternal sulking. Obviously DWill was a beastly move that trumps anything DL has done, but DL (and KOC) did aggressively trade up for Burke it just didn't work out.

Will Barton wasn't good at all for the Nuggets until this year all of a sudden.

i

He was actually pretty good last year for Denver after they traded for him. He didnt do jack for Portland, which was funny because Portland's biggest weakness during the Aldridge era was they lacked a bench with any firepower and they were sleeping on a powder keg.

Will Barton was always a high upside player, he was a top-10 HS recruit, now he's got a shot at being the 6th man of the year. Damian Lillard wasn't happy with Barton getting traded.

I hope Erick Green can get some burn and run good in this game.. This guy deserved to be on an NBA roster all season as far as i'm concerned, I remember seeing him do some fancy transition finishes in the summer league and thinking that.

If he were to play ridiculously well on this 10-day, Trey will probably appear even more expendable, they kinda have some similarities to their games.

He's also the baby-whisperer:

Will Green ever be good enough to escape being known as the guy who was traded for Rudy Gobert?

He definitely passed the eye test in his limited minutes, which is more than can be said for a lot of 10-day contract players.

This.
We might even be able to get the 4th seed

Ya his scoring prowess and shot looked legit, though take it with a grain of salt since it was big time garbage time. Still, his shot should translate.

He got beat badly on defense a couple times but it's not like burke or neto are shutting anybody down on that end.

He might be our best point point guard (it's obviously too early to conclude anything though) which is really sad.

Nice story about how Eric Green twice declined phone calls from the Jazz. Then his agent called him and said, "what are you doing, the Jazz are trying to call you, pick up their call."

He screens his calls, and didn't know the number.
He said he couldn't sleep and is excited to be here. Just FYI.

Green shot 47% FGs and 40% 3pt in college and scored 25 ppg. In the Dleague he's at 53% and 48% 3pt - 26 ppg. He can shoot it. I wonder how much of Green being a bust is simply a lack of legit opportunity for significant PT. Guys like him - shooters, scorers - sometimes just need extended PT and an chance to get in a rhythm.

Pretty amazing numbers for certain. He has to be better than neto right now

When you enter the league at an advanced age as he did, opportunities are few and far between.

Basically the same role that Ian Clark used to occupy. Definitely room for him for now, with Exum out for this season. . . doubt he's a long-term option, but it's worth taking a look at for 3 weeks or so.

You only sign a player to two 10-day contracts. After that you have to offer them a contract or not have them anymore. So we have a maximum of 20 days to work him out before deciding if he will spend his off-season training under the Jazz's wing.
