What's new

Don't look now, but...

He is playing less of late and the jazz are on their longest winning streak of the season.
Lololololol

We have not beat any good teams during this streak and have had home games. But still. Lolololololol

Very true. And I'm open to the possibility that there is something about Burke's play with our first unit that doesn't fit well despite his current play. However, IMHO this has more to do with a healthy Favs and Gobert together and clicking than it does with Burke's smaller time allotment ;-) Would love to crawl inside Snyder's head for the reason regardless.

Combined with the easy schedule lately.

I don't know if Burke playing less lately has helped the team get wins or not.

Too hard to say really

Neto's improved play has certainly helped, and it is part of the reason why Burke has been playing less.

I'm sure the only reason Burke isn't starting over Neto is because his talents are utilized best as a scoring guard spark plug off the bench. Neto is straight trash, a 3rd string guard (and 2 years older). Burke has gone downhill in assists every season but his scoring efficiency is way up. It's still meh @.514 TS%, but that's a very large 6% improvement from last season's yuck. If he can add another 3% to that and a couple more assists he will be a solid backup or even pushing top 20 starting pg.

Agree. With Hood, Hayward and Derrick, Utah has three alpha scorers. Not saying the Jazz don't need another shooter. They could really use a 3&D PG who could sit back and hit 40% from deep. But Burke has shown he's more of a SG as you said. His improvement is certainly noticeable. And you are honest in saying even at that, it's still "meh." However, not sure how he fits if Burks can ever stay healthy. That's two backup SG's who are scoring spark plugs off the bench, with Alec being far more efficient,

neto and burke are the same age. not even gonna touch the top 20 starting pg comment. tr0ll

Alec isn't any more efficient a scorer than Burke, and he cannot bring the ball up the court or initiate offense close to as well.

I believe Burke could be (has been) a better facilitator, but that would lessen his current role.

Burke's and Burks' value is similar but that shouldn't take away from either's impact. We need scoring from the bench and both can compliment each other.

Think about what he said though. If Trey was the 20th best starting PG, he'd be below average for a starter. So if everything goes well, best case scenario for trey is a below average starting PG. Dare I dream?

I really liked how efficient he was in the game tonight. I didn't have to see him screw up a single thing on defense.

Don't look now but we're just two game out of the 6th seed.

We have to gut this out tonight.

The road record is the reason we are 2 games out of 6th seed.

Portland's ballin as well. Both 7-3 last 10. We have to start winning on the road as they've played more road games than us. This is a bad team OTR.

Injuries affected the home v road record? This team has had a road problem for 8-10 years. Maybe even 30 considering the SnM home dominance and road losing issues.

This is actually perplexing. If they get a bump from altitude lag from teams coming here then why don't they get an altitude bump themselves on the road?

Injuries affected the home v road record?

When did I say that?
You said that the reason we are two games out of 6th place is due to our road record. Which I agree is part of the reason. I think injuries are a bigger reason we are two games out of 6th place though.
And I will make and nice and easy for you to know why I think that.

See I think that if favors and Gobert didn't miss so many games then we would have won some more home games and some more road games which would have us in the 6th seed or better... Even though our home vs road record would still not be all that great

Also, Derrick has played 4 more home games than road games.

You have to feel like we win one of the Knicks or Hornets games with Derrick, if not both, but yeah, we suck on the road. Really hope we can get 2 of these next 3

I'm looking at the position we are in right now and looking forward instead of backward with excuses. If this team can win on the road then we can get the fifth seed. That's not going to happen this season, and the road losses is the largest hurdle this team needs to jump.
