X games were never really my thing, I remember watching Mirra absolutely shut down those events back in the day though, he was the headliner and lived up to and often surpassed to those expectations.. R.I.P.

I remember there were some great songs on these soundtracks..

Love Dave Mirra. I used to watch the Dew Tour religiously for the BMX alone. I loved watching him stay competitive against kids doing nutty new stuff.

RIP but so selfish

Why is it selfish? He's robbed X fans the opportunity to see a 40 yr old in some future seniors event? He has the right to do with his body what he wants. Maybe he left behind a nice little insurance policy for his family. NO ONE knows the level of anguish and despair that leads to suicide unless you've been very close or even attempted it yourself. I'll bet this is something he's been struggling with for years or even decades - and those feelings just became too overwhelming.

Selfish because his two daughters will grow up with out a father. Sorry you don't like my opinion. Has nothing to do with BMX

Don't need any, suicide is the most selfish act possible. I have lost family members to it and feel the same way about them.
So according to you it's not possible for someone to die of a mental illness? They are selfish for being extremely ill? Do you understand that insane people do not understand what they are doing? I can guarantee you that this is true.

Is it selfish to die of cancer?

Putting a gun to your head and pulling the trigger is selfish imo, in your opinion it's not. Agree to disagree

While I don't personally think suicide is a good answer to anything, I also don't think it's my place to make judgements on those who have.

There are some pretty difficult mental illnesses out there, as well as what we've seen associated with long term concussions and hits. It's a very difficult thing many people are dealing with, and there are various reasons people in some of these situations for feeling suicide is better for them, their families, and others. It may or may not be rooted in selfishness, but either way my sympathy and empathy for them and their loved ones should overshadow any sort of condemnation. Who knows what led up to this, and when people are feeling this way it's not like they are in a good place to think things through in the best manner. They are in a high pressure, difficult life situation where it's easy to not see long term.
