Nope. A rookie contract is nothing, They're thinking of that big mansion he could buy them with his next contract. I'm sure they'll claim he could have received a max contract had Utah only given him the opportunity.

I believe the NBA allows a little extra time to input the exact details and submit the trade to the NBA office. So a trade could be announced some minutes after the official deadline.
 
The Pels not trading Ryan Anderson was worse than the Jazz not trading either Jefferson or Millsap. At least the Jazz were entertaining the idea of keeping one or both of them. No way Anderson comes back to New Orleans. Should have rented him to someone for whatever they could have gotten.
