>=] OFFICAL GAME THREAD! Jazz @ Blazers

It's apparent we don't have the personnel to contend and can't trade for anything. Only hope is to get another lottery pick. Of course Lindsey will again choose someone who has ballerina balance instead of knock-down shooting.

At least we're getting closer to Hayward leaving for nothing. Then Jazz can promote Hood to #1 option and make Johnson the 6th man, while still maintaining that all important cap flexibility...you know, so Utah can be players in the free agent market as was mentioned two years ago.

I didn't read the rest of the thread but this seems like a bit of an overreaction. Has anyone mentioned we could have had harkless for free and didn't get in on that... And that he's a 3 and D guy who is young and big enough to play small ball 4... Did I mention he woulda been basically free?

I do agree with the general sentiment that Stifle has here... Our FA approach bit is pretty hard on this one. Had we gone out and got a better third big or a PG we would be in so much better shape.

He shoots 29% from 3.....

You got to shoot at least 35% on a decent number of attempts to be eligible to be a 3&D player.

Good point. I've only watched him against us and felt like he was better than that. I'd take a swing at him in FA though... Still young and I like the versatility he could bring. Guy got 6 offensive rebounds tonight.

Lindsey has shunned the free agent market for basically three straight seasons, only looking for deep discount players like Booker, Withey, Johnson, Millsap, etc. Now I admit I shop at the Dollar Tree because I'm on a miniscule budget, but that's not the way to build a competitive bench. I thought KOC was tight with his money, but DL has been down right puckered. And it's only going to be worse this off-season. EVERY team will have cap space. Demand (i.e. cap space) will be MUCH greater than supply. And that will make FA contracts ridiculous. DL (and KOC before him) have talked about having cap flexibility so they could be players in the market. Well, they did it once and got a few draft picks from GS. But every summer DL kicks a few tires, then proclaims he loves the youngsters and the market was just too expensive and getting player X back from injury is the biggest addition. Feel free to bump this post when he says the same thing again in July 2016.

They are going to end up paying their own players a lot of money. The problem is they don't have a player that is worth a lot of money. Hayward can't take them to .500 but the Jazz will have to pay him 20 million per season.

Eventually Lindsey will have to do something more than watch 50 dleague players and talk about steps.

Umm,..try $30M. Gordo's a nice player, but he's no superstar. Hood has more potential to be a consistent 20+/per player. It's taken Hayward 6 years to get to that level and he's still pretty "meh" in terms of his shooting percentages (44%/36% career and just slightly lower this season). Jazz should trade him this summer. He's not worth $30M and not worth getting zero in return when he does leave.

If I were DL, I'd go hard after Conley or try to get Teague. Atlanta will be willing to deal once Horford leaves. We all HOPE Exum comes back strong, but an ACL recovery is really 2 years long (look at Matthews in Dallas). AND, it's not like Exum was a stud before the injury. We have ONE summer game as "evidence" he is going to penetrate. But does the injury make him even more timid? And can he shoot? What does the injury do to his quickness on the defensive end, which was his one positive last year?

Gobert is too weak and slow

Cj is really scrappy

Nice start for Mack

Hayward and hood clutch

Favors is ehhh

Snyder outcoached himself. Should have went for game winning 3 on road.

Burke really blows

You should rewatch Hayward's defense the last 2 minutes. He made to crutial rotations then didnt follow through on defense.

Offense they pushed the ball through him and if Hood didnt bail him out with two 3pointers we would have lost by 10 or more.

It's heartbreaking to watch a game and right off feel the refs are biased and favor one team.

Rudy was an offensive liability. Smart game plan by Portland to give him all kinds of space and dare him to shoot. Rudy has to take those shots in order to keep the defense honest.

Why didn't Snyder give Withey a try. Withey can hit that midrange shot, defends the pick and roll, and box out. On a night when Gobert was ***, Booker was missing lay ups, and Favors was out of sync, why not give Withey a try? Haven't figured out why Snyder doesn't give him more burn.

This is the kind of game where you almost want to take a baseball bat to the refs. It was that bad.

Is McCollum as good as Hayward? Better? CJ probably isn't as good at defense, but he looks fantastic on offense.
I think Hayward is better all around. Mccollum is a better scorer.

I think hood is better than Hayward offensively. Hood needs to be the guy with the ball in his hands the most imo

?

I agree, depending on what we could get for him.
Should be able to something pretty good for him right?

Never really recovered from that meltdown to end the second quarter huh?
We did. We built the lead back up above double digits.
Then lillard went off in the third

You realize the reason hood gets great looks is usually the #1 defender is on Hayward.

Hayward never had this. With that said, yes, Hood is handling it very well.

Gobert went to twitter!

Talking all tough on Twitter. He got man handled this game.

Even Chris Johnson looked tougher.

Gobert does not handle physical play well. Next step of the journey. Hayward went through this last year where teams got rough with him and he was taken out of games. He does a lot better with it now.
