OFFICIAL Postseason race thread *Sticky*

Houston trade has now been voided due to Motiejunas' back problems. Rockets get Motiejunas and Thornton back. Should either strenghten their bench or will be incredibly awkward and divisive. Also voids the Houston-Philly trade since it involved Joel Anthony, who the Rockets got from Detroit.

Rockets are such a terrible org that they cannot properly complete trades. Love it. I hope they replace Sactown as the biggest dumpster fire in the NBA.

That would take a special brand of professional sucking because they are nowhere near a Sactown's level dumpster fire right now. What an absolute mess that organization is.

But they are headed that way. Infighting, poor coaching, voided trades, bad PR moves...

The best part of this is that the Rockets failed to get under the tax line. They could have given Lawson to the Jazz and it would have put them way under. As it is now, they're going to have to be very judicious about deals they make moving forward to avoid paying the repeater tax. It really Jacked up their flexibility moving forward.

Last night's games:

Warriors, Wolves and Clippers won.

Lakers and Suns lost. Not much that affected Utah.

Tonight's games:

Pelicans @ Wizards
Kings @ Nuggets (Kings are 2 games closer to Utah than the Nuggets)
Rockets @ Jazz
Nets @ Blazers

Obviously we want the Jazz to win along with the Rockets and Blazers losses.

OP updated

Jazz should win, but they've been frustratingly inconsistent this year. If even half their close losses went the other way, they'd be sitting pretty at 34-21 and just two games behind the Clippers for the 4th seed.

With that said, I think they bounce back from the last game and look like a defense-first playoff team now that they have some competent PG play. Hopefully Mack gets the start tonight.

Blazers won't lose to the lowly Nets. Brooklyn is almost as bad as LA and Sacramento. Which is freaking hilarious to me. Didn't realize that the CBA would bring big market teams like the Lakers, Nets and Knicks crashing down to the basement. . . and yet here we are.

Locke tweeted that the Jazz are -4 on official NBA reports under 2 minutes. That means 4 more incorrect calls that went against Jazz than 4 incorrect calls for the Jazz. At that rate it is -131 calls on the season...

Haters gon hate.

Oh, and the Jazz will keep winning because they're going to get to a winning record this season. Have to if they want to make the playoffs. I really think this young team needs to see that small level of success to springboard for next year.

Lol. The trade was voided due to a player not passing the physical. It's happened from time to time. Did they know he wouldn't be able to pass a physical? Who knows.

They can still trade him, it's just more complicated as other teams can stop the trade. I think. Doesn't every trade from here on out go through some sort of wavers?
...not feeling very optimistic about the jazz lately, broughs. I need a pep talk.

Jazz have been pretty good as of late at home. They play the Rockets in Utah, so there's that.

We don't need your logic here. Rockets suck and that's just the way it is.

We got this... We. Got. This!

I think we end up 7 or 8 though... would love to climb to 5 but don't think we get there. Porty or Dallas may get it. We will be within a game or two though.

If Houston is close to missing the playoffs I think they will tank... they lose their first rounder this year if they miss the playoffs... if not the obligation is extinguished.

Am I a bad fan for feeling almost nothing for the 7th or 8th seed? Seriously, I feel the smallest blip. GSW and SAS are so damn elite. 6th or higher, please.

This makes no sense. It's like backwards protection. Why would they tank if that causes them to lose their pick?

I want 5th tbh. But either way this team needs to experience the playoffs. The team needs to learn those bumps. No we won't beat them but it'll be a taste of the next level.
