Utah gets Favors AND Babbitt

So someone posted a twitter thread that says NJ might be interested in Boozer with a sign and trade. Now ESPN is reporting that NJ is going to pick Favors to try to trade him, possibly during the FA period.

Can you imagine if we ended up with Favors AND a Babbitt or George?

this would be awesome.

But why would NJ trade Favors for Boozer? Isn't Favors supposed to be better anyway? I mean, he's longer, more athletic, taller, younger, and hasn't proven to be injury prone. Perhaps Favors averages 20+ and 10+ here in a year or so. Is NJ really expecting to become a contender this year?

Why don't they hold onto their pick and then later on use their money to sign whoever they want, Lebron, Bosh, Boozer, etc?

If the Nets want an experienced power forward they should just draft Wesley Johnson and sign one of the four power forwards that are available in free agency. A sign and trade makes no sense here.

Why the hell would they trade their #3 pick away for Boozer when they can sign him as a FA in a week. Lol some of these draft rumors kill me...

From what I have been reading, there have been a lot of question marks about Favors. A lot of people are very high on him and a lot of people are worried about him actually being that guy. He did get dominated by Cousins supposedly in their workouts. Who knows what will happen? Anyway, this seems too good to be true.

It makes perfect sense. They do a sign and trade they get to keep more cap space for more free agents. If they want to be winners fast they will need experienced players, not a team filled with young bucks. Lopez,Boozer,LeBron,Lee,Harris with cap space still availabe.....not to shabby. It Probably won't happen though.

How much money do they have anyway?

Could they possibly sign and trade with us and still sign another big name FA? What's the difference (in relation to their salary cap) between them doing a sign and trade with us and them just signing Boozer in the open market? Do they expect Boozer's asking price to be more here in a few weeks or something?

couldn't they potentially, hold onto the #3 pick, sign Boozer, and then sign another big time FA if they wanted? I just don't get why they'd want to trade the #3 pick.

Yeah it doesn't make sense to me either. Favors or Johnson would cheaper because of their rookie contracts. They could then just sign boozer in free agency by throwing money at him. Not sure why they would give up their 3rd pick for no reason

Why does anyone put stock in these one on one battles? Favors is a skinny PF while Cousins is a huge C. Bynum could probably beat down Gasol one on one, yet to me there's no comparison who I'd rather have on my team....

Shaq could probably still beat down Dwight Howard, Amare, and Bosh, yet Shaq sucks.

I would cream my pants if we got Favors while at the same time getting rid of boozer.

I believe it makes some sense for the Nets to go this route. Right now, Cleveland and Chicago seem to be in the driver's seat for Lebron's services. Without a quick deal like this, the Nets are crossing their fingers for him or any other FA to sign there even with their cap space. But if the Nets get Boozer first, it makes the Nets much more attractive for him. Much more attractive. If he went there, he could still dominate the ball (he couldn't with Dwade anywhere and he couldn't nearly as much with DRose) and would have a helluva of 1-5. He'd also have a NY market to become the billionaire he wants to be. And if he didn't go there? The Nets still get a very good FA/ go-to scorer in Booze to build around and whose deficiencies can be masked some by Lopez like they can't here.

Perhaps some here misunderstood the point. Nets are not trading us Favors for Booz. But if Nets do get Favors, they may not be in market for Booz, thus limiting his options this summer and removing one of the likeliest places for him, which is a great news for Jazz who obviously don't want to lose a talent of Boozer's caliber for nothing at all in return. That's why it's a key pick. Let's hope Nets draft Favors.

No way possible. It makes no sense. They could trade away the 3rd pick in the draft for a veteran and sign Boozer anyways. Whoever brought this up is dreaming unless there is something in the deal that we are not hearing about.
