Some of those we are getting close. Like the jetpack.

Level of tech today is FAR more advanced than most of those pictures of steam-tech automation. Also, we've had jet packs for a long time now. Granted, they're not based on bat wings.

But people in 1900 simply could not have envisioned what the world would be like in 2016, because modern computing technology is based on scientific principles that weren't known to them.

Interesting - fortunately not everything is as automated as they predicted or else we would be all like the humans in Wall-E.
