What is Wrong with Rudy?

$100 blue road swingman.
Good man.
The real jerseys are worth it imo. The replicas just feel cheap.

I have a cheap Paul millsap jersey in blue and then expensive nice ones of Burks (white), favors (green), and Gobert (blue).
The Gobert one is the newest and like it the best in terms of fit, material, and style. I like the green color scheme the best but the Gobert one is just made differently and better than the others

I think a lot of things are wrong with Rudy right now.

I think he looks tired, and worried about his leg. He looks hesitant and less aggressive on both ends of the floor.

I also think he was highly over rated by Jazz fans. And he's unlikely to ever repeat his performance from late last year because teams now know how to account for him (Hopefully getting Exum back helps though). Frankly I think Lyles may end up taking a lot of his minutes in the coming years. I prefer the Lyles/Favors lineup right now over the Favors/Gobert one. They fit better together and they both help space the floor making room for each other and the wings, Rudy doesn't and I'm not sure his defense makes up for it any longer.

Lyles still needs to improve rebounding and defensively before I'm ready to say that he will be taking that many minutes from Gobert.

I'm watching the wolves game right now. Gobert looks pretty good to me. Fish called this one right.

I was especially impressed with how fast he ran the floor a few times. And watch for the monster one handed rebound while a guy clings to his back. It's beastly

I agree with your post but last night against minny he looked great. Looked like his old self. I saw him running the floor faster than I have seen him In a long time, eating up space covering guys all over the place, scaring the crap out of any dribble penetration, getting up high and snagging one handed rebounds while having defenders draped over his back.

I have always said that rudys greatest asset is his mentality.... I'm thinking he can smell the playoffs right now and we are going to see a ferocious, determined Rudy to finish out the season.

A.) I wonder how much it helped to have Withey get some decent playing time against OKC in the blowout. I'm wondering if he just needs a little more rest heading into the playoffs. I think they need to find time to play Withey when the Jazz have a lead so that Gobert can rest and get fully healthy. He's the one guy who could completely change a playoff series. When he's on, the Jazz are hard to beat. Period.

B.) It would be a mistake to get rid of Rudy to play Favors and Lyles together. Offensively, they work well. . . but there isn't any reason why Gobert/Lyles can't work very well together also AND playing Favors at the 5 exclusively will wreck his back. A three man rotation of Gobert/Favors, Favors/Lyles and Gobert/Lyles has some amazing potential long-term. Jazz should definitely see what that potential is.

C.) Even struggling this year, Rudy Gobert is the Jazz defensive anchor. That is the identity of this team moving forward, and it would be a huge setback to try and replace what he brings. His attitude, temperament, and leadership will continue to be a huge part of this team. I think you'd be dumb to bet against him after only his first season as a starter. He's the kind of guy that has the drive and will to succeed. You don't get rid of those players.

Rudy basically kept us in the game in the 3rd quarter. We couldn`t hit anything offensively and he was instrumental in us still holding onto the lead by not letting them get easy points in the paint.

Whatever Rudy turns out to be offensively, he still is going to a game changer defensively. But, is he still a lock for the 5 year max this summer?

Good points. Here are the stats that tell the tale: among Centers, Rudy's DRPM is 3.10 (6th), ORPM is -1.08 (36th) and overall RPM is 3.10 (13th) His ORPM has trended -4.05/ -1.66/ -1.08, so there is some upside. And he has top 3 potential in DRPM.

Assuming an upside is DRPM = 5.0 ORPM = -0.5, which would put him at 4.5 net, placing him in 2016 as a top 6 Center on overall RPM. (Top 5 are Deandre, Jokic, Cousins, Duncan, Pau).

So you're judging him on rebounds alone?

What's opponent FG% in the paint when he's in the game? Still best in the NBA, or has he slipped a little?

I don't think drpm and orpm are about rebounds.

I'm not really sure though

Just remember it's Gobert's 1st year as a starter and I'm sure that scouting from other teams has to do with him not being as dominant as last season after the all-star break. I'm sure the coaching staff will work with him this summer on his hands and overall body strength. I'm not concerned about this season's inconsistency.
