What's new

An explanation of why, mathematically, this has been the most frustration Jazz season of all time.

Bad luck definitely has a lot to do with it. We definitely had more than our fair share of guys hitting crazy difficult shots against us in close games.

Not just that .. but think of things like Mo Williams going off on us against the Cavs, Ian Clark hitting 3 pointers, Livingston hitting a 3 We had a bunch of stuff happen that were exceptional one offs.

A very vocal jazzfanzer tried to bury me for saying we need a Bulldog out on the perimeter. In other words, for saying we need a lockdown defensive guru who could disrupt offenses in late-game situations. I think the case is pretty well closed: we don't have a perimeter guy who can check the most talented perimeter playmakers/scorers when we get into to grind-it-out situations.

Exum may eventually become that guy. He obviously can defend any "guard". But he could even defend "wings" if he added more strength.

But we can't wait on Exum. We need a Bulldog now, just like we needed one last October.

It's obviously time for Lindsey to get busy.

Name solutions, not just problems. Who should Lindsey pursue who will be available? If acquired, how will that player's court time affect the playing time of Hayward, Hood, and Burks?

I'll name problems all I want. Especially when I'm one of the very few to say anything related to that problem. The offseason is about to start, so different solutions than the ones I was talking about a year ago need to be sussed out. Bazemore is an option. There are others.

I notice how you avoid the playing time component to my post.

In terms of direct response, I ignored a lot of your post -- chiefly the part where you told me how to post.

For the record, I was also one of a minority of posters who lobbied for the triple-wing lineup. Which worked pretty well. I say this because it demonstrated how, with Hood and Hayward out there, playmaking isn't in short supply; and it proved that playing time can be created for whichever perimeter defender we can find to play next to them. And I don't consider Alec Burks a core piece.

I wonder how much our inability to rebound at crunch time has to do with other teams playing small ball and Rudy being taken out (also taken out because of his poor foul shooting).

I hope Quin's exit meeting with the team and individual players (I assume he does it this way) resonates with them.

It has more to do with not boxing out. That's one fundamental that the game today lacks, IMO. Guys rely too much on their athleticism(says the short white guy).

Just want to echo that it I believe it is primarily a defensive issue for us, and add that I don't think it's the sort of thing that is solved by just bringing in a good defender. Our defense breaks down at the end of games and we also end up giving up more offensive rebounds.

Uh, no.

Hey, and by the way, your boy Luc Mbah a Moute could be our golden ticket!

A memory from three or four years ago? You need to let a lot of stuff go, brough. Including the idea that I might support acquiring him now because I did back then. You may be dumb enough to believe that, and you shouldn't.

No, I just don't forget about how you bitch about this team every year and insist we get a 3 and d guy.

Has Favors ever closed out a game for us by beasting? Has Rudy? This season? We need closers offensively and defensively. Hayward is a closer but he can't do it alone.

Hayward has been a very very good wing defender all year. And you don't think Exum will have added strength in all this time off ? He'll make an enormous difference, and i hope Hood improves defensively as well. Burks i have doubts he'll ever be a good defender

Bazemore is his new flavor of the week(offseason).

I'm not trying to be a dick here, but until a couple of months ago when you started sniping at me, I had no idea who you were or anything you've added to a single discussion. I'm shocked you've been around since the board re-booted. Funny to see you bust out your weak history of my ideas, though.
