Would you trade Hayward+assets for John Wall??

I would. I think the Jazz have the ammunition to get it done too.

I remember back to my early Jazzfanz days, before Wall signed his extension, I used to suggest offering him the max.. My plan B was Jeff Teague to a 40-44 million dollar/4 year deal IIRC.. Looking back, those would've been seriously high-impact moves.. franchise changers.. So I figure I'll suggest it again.

He's signed for the next 3 seasons for about 51 mil and turns 26 in September.

Obviously Trey Burke can go. Probably Exum too.
If they keep Dante, maybe they throw in Neto and this years first round pick??or a future pick??

Washington can spin it like they didn't get Durant but they got a damn good consolation prize in Hayward.

The Wizards would be set on the wing if they could get Hayward to stay, next to Beal, Porter and Oubre, It'd actually set them up for another trade, and I think Washington will be looking for a big shakeup this offseason.. They could sorta do a Portland style retooling while getting younger.

Only after KD signs and makes Hayward redundant. Wall Burks Hood Durant is better than Exum Hood Hayward Durant.

Yeah, the FO would probably move Favors, pair Hayward with Wall and slide Lyles to the 4. This motivates Hayward to stay.

Jazz offer Favors, Burks + 1st rd

Then they focus on adding a shooter and tough vets off the bench.

I think of John Wall as a borderline All Star. I think his value was inflated by playing in the EC. He had a down year efficiency-wise and his attitude isn't great. I think Favors+pick+Exum or Burks would get Wall.

The blunder woonder DL keep make poor choice. Everyone know it we should trade hayward at DEADLINE! Now he is nothing more.

I think some of y'all are lacking context here.. you're turning a blockbuster trade into an unrealistic massive rip off in Utah's favor.. Isn't that obvious??

Instead of thinking in terms of 'better' or 'upgrades' think in terms of safety, Hayward is not remotely as safe of an asset as Wall because he can walk next season.. This move adds flexibility to the roster because forecasting the salary structure will be easier.

The question is, is the deal in the OP enough to get Wall? would they ask for multiple 1sts?? Hayward could walk..

Washington is trying to lure Durant as a win now team so doubt they would want Exum. Would likely want Hayward and Gobert to solidify their interior D and sell that to Kevin Durant. It is a steep price to pay, but if we're being realistic thats the price for John Wall - arguably the best two way PG in the league.

I'm thinking the wizards would be more intrigued by Favors. After so many years without much production from the pg spot Wall would be amazing to watch. Lyles and gobert could possibly be really good. Though the defense would not be as good. The other thing is that we have bird rights for practically all of our young guys.

What? This makes no sense. What do you figure his best offer will be next summer? Do you think there's any chance he re-signs for 75% of some other team's offer?

4 years and 100 mil+.. I'd be weary to do anything over 3 years 70mil.

As I've said before, Hayward being a dedicated video game player leads me to believe he'll look to grab as much $$$ as possible. So no I don;t think there's any chance he re-signs for 75%.

If it was up to me I'd trade him this offseason or at the deadline, to avoid risk and a side-show... (see the OP..)

Ah, I see. Makes sense. Which teams potentially offer him $25mil/year?

edit: Also, $23.3mil is 93% of $25mil. Is the extra year all that bad? Gordo will be 31 in five years, and the cap could be much higher. If you're only wary to go to $23.3mil, wouldn't walking away at $25mil -- particularly if it meant walking away with nothing -- be foolish?

The 76ers, Celtics, Bulls, Brooklyn, Memphis, Washington, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Orlando and Lakers should all have plenty of room for him, the price is going to get run up.... If Durant were to walk add OKC..

Houston could have room to make a sizable bid to pair him with Harden in his last year undercontract with Hous. Ariza and BRewer would still be on the books but would expire after that season.

I would trade Hayward or Favors or Exum plus pieces for Wall. Only one of those three.

Wall is very, very good but he isn't worth two of those guys.

Also, Hood is a very average NBA player. Nothing more. A bench guy. Don't over inflate him because he was drafted in the 20's. He is solid NBA player. Nothing more.

For the sake of discussion, let's say Washington is actually willing to trade Wall. Here's what they ask for: Favors or Hayward + Exum + 2 first-round picks. I'm not saying that's a reflection of Wall's ACTUAL value, or that he's that much better than the outgoing pieces; I do think that Washington would only part ways with Wall for a large loot.

teh ****??

Did that not ring true last time he hit the market?? lets see how it goes next summer..

I'm an old school MMO (Everquest) veteran btw, Once I got older I became quite convinced the average people playing games of certain types are influenced to be greedy.
