Official Offseason Rumors Thread

Wouldn't you be worried about spacing at all? I think Simmons can become an adequate shooter in time, but he's definitely not there yet.

He forgot to logout of his OL account when he suggested Simmons start at SF.

Unless the FO thinks he can log the majority of his minutes at the 3. Spacing with Simmons/Favors/Gobert would be pretty bad until Simmons works on his outside shot though.

Gun to my head, I'm not sure who I'd trade between Favors and Gobert in that scenario.

I was thinking more like Lyles.

That wouldn't solve the spacing issues of the starting lineup.

But **** it. If we have the chance to trade Hayward for Simmons, just do it and worry about the rest later.

I think in that scenario you move Favors as well. To me it pushes the window into the future and we are building around Simmons, Gobert, Exum and to a lesser extent Lyles Hood.

Not at all, Ben Simmons is like a speedboat leaving a massive wake(of spacing) behind, plus he's really damn good at making the right reads, he's a better 'probing PG' than any of the PG's in this draft..

He'd actually be a damn good fit on this roster, I'd say that type of scenario would be an ideal fit for him.. Hood and Lyles are damn good matches to flank Simmons with..

The spacing and ballmovement, would be noticably crisper IMO..

They'd definitely make the playoffs still.. which is one of the reasons why Utah would actually be a great landing spot for him..

Also the roles on the team would actually be more defined with a move like that.. Hood would be the #1 option, Simmons and Exum could split the duties of the main ball-handler, which isn't an issue at all, Dante can focus on shooting and defense a bit more.... Favors and Gobert do what they do.. Lyles and Burks are the gunners off the bench.. and the Playoffs are an obvious achievable goal next year, which is pretty damn good for Simmons compared to some of the places he could land..

You can get away with having Favors play half his minutes at PF and C too which adds to the quality of the rotation..

a lineup like Trey Burke, Alec Burks, Joe Ingles, Ben Simmons and Favors is totally viable.. the teams ability to mix-and match lineps would actually increase which isn't exactly the easiest thing to do because of all the flexibility already on the squad..

So trade Hayward, draft Simmons, draft Maker, sign Patty Mills and run with a 5 aussie lineup?

Throw another championship on the barbie.

If you are trading Hayward for Simmons you pretty much have to trade one of our bigs, right? I mean, if you are giving up our best player for Simmons, he has to play.
If you trade Hayward then you should look at trading Favors too.

Hayward for Ingram or Simmons is laughable, sets this team back years

Obviously it sets them back. That's not the point. In the long run, would you rather have Cory maggette or kevin durant?

That might be the difference.

The Jazz will change the jerseys and the primary logo(Mountain).

SLC Dunk pointed out these mountains around the arena. Clue?

The SLC Stars will be wearing these(NO green). Clue?

perhaps .. but best case even if you end up with a Durant ... has he won it all ?? I'd be worried as all hell about Simmons outside shot not developing.

It would absolutely set us back. The reasons to do it are really that our slow build may have been too slow and it is going to hit some snags here soon and Hayward being a free agent a year from now. Would be a pretty big gamble by both teams.

I would only do it for a top two pick though.

Things I have heard or read:

1. Teague was supposedly one of those. Locke said that Dennis hinted that one of the trades will happen this offseason.

5. Jazz will offer Mike Conly a contract, or at least communicate with him about potential deals.

Not disputing your rumors. Just wondering where you got these. The only thing I've heard about Conley is some speculation from Locke.

I thought the dialogue on the trades that didn't happen was:

2- One of the two trades involved a player that will be a FA in July, and expect the Jazz to make him an offer.

Lindsay said this indirectly. He talked about giving up a first round pick to rent a player for a partial year.

In the long run, would you rather have Cory maggette or kevin durant?

Hayward comps per ESPN/ 538 statistical analysis: Roy(pre-injury), Iguoudala, Theus, Mullin, Walter Davis, Steve Smith, Billy Knight, George Gervin, Michael Finley, Nick Anderson.

Hayward >> Magette.

Probability of Simmonds = Durant is 5%

But I do get your point.
