Following 2016 potential draftees

spy,

At 6'6", Beasley's wingspan is pretty bad. Burks was 6'10"-6'10.5" at different times.
I'm aware he doesn't have great length; don't really care. Neither does Hayward, Hood, Jimmy Butler, Devin Booker...

He does have great athleticism though.

Sometimes people get to caught up in the combine type stats and numbers, Wingspan, athletic abilty and so on and so on. Sometimes you just have to look and see if they can play high level ball or not..The eye test is the best test... Lets talk about Denzel Valentine and how some are down because he isn't quick or athletic enough. Just watch how he plays the game. Plays smart and fluidly.

This an interesting draft.. Might not be packed with star power but it is packed with some real solid players. SOme starters and lots of 6th man role players types... Deep class imo in the regard... So a lot of teams are going to draft on what they need not just BPA... I seen mock drafts all over the place with some guys in the lottery and next draft I look at he is a second rounder.. Going be a real fun draft..Got some good project players like Jones from Vanderbilt. Going to take some time with him but if he goes to the right situation. He is a player I have seen anywhere from late first to undrafted. Another big I really like for the nba and think he will be a better pro then he showed in college and that is AJ Hammonds from Purdue. Good defensive legit seven footer who has worked on his jumper and it has improved over the years.

I think the class is very interesting since a lot of players have really interesting skill sets, but get very little love.

Chad Ford@chadfordinsider:
"Of the 38 players in our “In” category (meaning they’ve hired an agent), 26 have invites to the NBA Draft Combine
Of the 75 players in the “testing” category in our In & Out list, only 14 have invites to next week’s NBA Draft Combine."

Just watched an interview from Beasley in high school and found this gem:

No matter who I play, I'm coming for them. I want to destroy them. So that's my chip on my shoulder, cause there's a list of people who I still gotta kill. Not letting anyone knew who my list is--that's personal--but I got a lot of people to kill left.

I think he can cross Brandon Ingram off his list...

Booker's wingspan is 7'0.5" or over a half foot better than Beasley's. The other guys you mentioned all have at least 1.5" inches on him. in wingspan. I'm not saying he's gonna bust or anything but if we look at startng 2's in the NBA today, are any smaller?

Not sure where you're getting Booker's numbers from. Before the combine he measured with a 6'6 wingspan and then 6'8 at the combine. DX lists Beasley as 6'5 with a 6'7 wingspan in their scouting report. So they're very similar in size.

In terms of the others I listed, it was more in reference to their wingspan in relation to their height.

I'll see if I can find other SGs who were successful at the NBA level with similar size. Redick comes to mind (but I don't know his exact measurements off the top of my head).

My guess, however, is that not many other guards with his size have his level of athletic ability, which is something I think will compensate for his relatively small size.

Weird...if you scroll down into the article though, the info they provide is vastly different.

"May 13, 2015
-Devin Booker: Measuring 6'4.5 without shoes with a 6'8.25 wingspan and a 205.8-pound frame, Booker came in .75 inches below what he measured without shoes at the UK Pro Day, which is a bit disappointing. Perhaps more importantly for him, though, he measured a wingspan over two inches longer, which is a positive development. He's almost exactly the same size and Spencer Dinwiddie who measured 6'4.5 without shoes with a 6'8.25 wingspan and a 206 pound frame last spring."

You were looking at Devin Booker, Trevor Booker's brother, who plays in France...

I compiled a list of SGs (or players who see a fair amount of time at the 2) taken in the 1st round from drafts 2006-2015 with wingspans no longer than 6'8. The further back I went, the harder it was to find wingspans listed, so the list isn't 100% accurate (I didn't list them if their wingspan wasn't available).

Make of it what you will:

JJ Redick - 6'3
Steph Curry - 6'4
Jimmer Fredette - 6'5
CJ McCollum - 6'6
OJ Mayo - 6'6
Rudy Fernandez - 6'6
Randy Foye - 6'6
Terrence Ross - 6'7
Tim Hardawy Jr - 6'7
Austin Rivers - 6'7
Dion Waiters - 6'7
Rodney Stuckey - 6'7
Garry Harris - 6'7
Jrue Holiday - 6'7
Brandon Knight - 6'7
Avery Bradley - 6'7
Brandon Roy - 6'8
Devin Booker - 6'8
Nik Stauskas - 6'8
Zach LaVine - 6'8
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope - 6'8
Brad Beal - 6'8
Evan Fournier - 6'8
Evan Turner - 6'8
Gordon Hayward - 6'8
Rodney Hood - 6'8
Jimmy Butler - 6'8
Eric Bledsoe - 6'8
Russell Westbrook - 6'8
Daequan Cook - 6'8
Maurice Ager - 6'8

*Interestingly enough, the two tallest players from this list are Hood and Hayward. (edit: and Butler)
