What's new

Following 2016 potential draftees

He's got great length and athleticism; he's built well, too. He also seems like a humble person, from what I can tell based on his interviews.

The combination of size, athletic ability, persona, and ability to shoot and create... the only other prospect that has all those same attributes is Ingram. I think he's a major sleeper. The way his stock has been soaring is warranted IMO.

His FG% was absolutely abysmal, but he was still a productive freshman at a big school.

He's become one of my favorites in the draft.

He also seems to have the 'tude.

After January 1, Malachi shot 56/136 from 3 (41%).

"I'm a good kid off the floor as well," he said. "Never been in any trouble, never got in trouble at school, no personal issues. I'm just a great kid with a big heart."

This is the pick.

So Philly ends up taking Simmons... Does Saric become available? He's rumored to be coming over this year, but he'd be smarter to hold out one year for contract purposes. They've got quite the logjam if healthy and I don't see a robust trade market for Embiid, Okafor... maybe Noel (not that they are worthless just not as valuable as they would have been last year).

I'd be extremely interested if he was available. Not the perfect roster fit for us but he's an experienced young player and would be a contributor on a great contract. Not sure #12 would get it done, but maybe they'd have interest in AB and 12? Just a thought....

This is the pick.

Did he talk about how humble he was?

Go read Thon Maker's interview... you'll want to pick him too.

-This is all complete sarcasm... not capping on you.

I wouldn't mind drafting Maker and having him play for the Stars, while developing.

Richardson looks like a pretty good prospect.

I don't really have many preferences on what we do with this pick... Draft is all one level.

It's hard for me to hate any pick really(because I don't like any of the prospects enough to be upset for passing on them), but I think there will be better options than Richardson at 12. You can probably talk me into it if we trade back and get him in the 20s.

I'm down to Baldwin as my guy, I like plenty of others, but I think Baldwin is where I'll hitch my cart. Great measurables, smart kid, some positional versatility.

spycam1, do you happen to know Richardsons FT rate? Or if you have it post March 1, when he shot well, that would be interesting as well.

Also, unassisted FG #? Was he getting his points from Gbinje or was he creating them?

0.382 FTr.

From March 1st: FTr= 97 FTA / 253 FGA = .383

So it's practically the same.

I just can't follow you on Richardson, Spy.

He's old for a freshman (2 months older than Baldwin for example), and he still doesn't exhibit good decision making skills. Had a <1:1 A:TO ratio, which is pretty porous. If you take out the month of January, which is when he got hot, he shot 30% from 3 overall. Pretty poor Ortg and DRtg. Pretty poor FT rate compared to his usage %. Statistically, and physically he compares incredibly similar to James Young.

I think he's enjoying a ton of recency bias. If you switch his January month with his November month, nobody is talking about him. I just don't see it tbh. His biggest skill so far is his shooting, which has shown to be incredibly streaky. Doesn't get to the line well, doesn't pass well, doesn't rebound well (especially for his size), and just doesn't show a good feel for the game or even understanding of the game IMO. At least with Lyles you could tell he had a high bball IQ...I don't see that with Richardson.

I would draft Richardson above jaylen brown. I think brown is a dud. Bad personality, cant shoot, doesnt create very well. Brown will be a bust.
Bad personality? What? What am I missing? From everything I've heard and seen of him he seems like a great kid.

I remember doing my "own scouting" at the Pac12 Tournament on Jaylen Brown. I watched him every minute, with or without the ball and he was terrible. I think he is a fine talent but he looked really really bad.
