What's new

Gordon Hayward trade.

All I can say is the Jazz better get something good for Hayward -- the # 3 and Crowder, maybe?

I would be mildly unhappy with that trade but it's not too bad. I could live with it. Especially if DL really really believes that there will be someone there that has star potential.

The idea of trading Hayward has been floating around the board centered around the Celtics and their number 3 pick. What if the deal that's there to be made involves not only the Celtics, but also the Raptors? What about something like this

Jazz trade- G. Hayward, T. Lyles, and 12th pick
Jazz get- K. Lowry, and J. Crowder

I literally laughed out loud at this part, and then stopped reading.

Would Buddy be the man? Plus Crowder is a very good defender along the lines of DeMarre. So those two could replace Gordon.

I believe in buddy more than anyone else so imo, yes. I'm definitely in the minority though.

Clearly people on the Jazz site values Hayward far more than I do. Which I guess should be expected. But looking at their respective NBA accomplishments I have no idea how the case could be made that Hayward is on Lowry level's as a player yet beyond it. The only argument IMO is the age factor. In a league where one individual can have such a huge impact the idea that Hayward could have 6 season in this league and zero playoff appearances yet is so heavily defended is amazing to me. What has Hayward done to warrant so much value?

In all fairness though, aren't you the guy who has been so diligently adamant in insisting that Treyd Burke was a much better player than fans thought and that he would prove the doubters wrong? You know, the guy who was relegated to 3rd string behind 2 other guys who aren't starting caliber either? Perhaps you have Taylor Swift syndrome?

1st I have no idea what Taylor Swift syndrome is barely familiar with her.

You say this as if Burke's career is over. I said he's not a good fit for the team. He played well when given mins and came up big especially early in the season. For whatever reason Synder isn't a fan of Burke which was evident by how quick he gave Trey the hook and how much leeway he gave Neto then Mack. Even if Burke does bomb out of the league it still has nothing to do with my evaluation of Hayward or how he compares to Kyle Lowry.

lowry is a choke artist, take it from me I see him play in Toronto all the time. He is great in the regular season and disappears in the playoffs. Hayward > Lowry don't talk foolishness.

Lowry is in a position to choke in the playoffs. Unlike Hayward ever in his career.

Kyle Lowry = 2 Time All-Star who is 30 years old and a 6' tall PG. Also a complete bust in the playoffs. His team has gotten far this year off of luck, Whiteside being injured, and a crappy Eastern Conference.

Jonas = Good starter. Nothing amazing, still young though.

So for those 2 players (1 of which is a 30 year old 6' tall PG who is probably going to be on the decline soon)they are going to get:

Amir Johnson: Very good bench big

Marcus Smart: One of the best defensive guards in the NBA and who is still very young

Kelly Olynyk: One of the few stretch 7'ers in the league who can hit the 3pt shot at a very high rate

Trey Lyles: A very talented young PF who showed a 3pt shot in his rookie year as well as a diverse set of offensive skills

3rd Overall Pick: Dragan Bender most likely who looks like a very good player IMO

12th Overall Pick: Not an insanely good draft in the late lottery ,but a lottery pick nonetheless

Nets Pick next Year: Are you ****ing kidding me? This is a gold mine pick in what is projected to be an insnae draft class. This is the biggest LMAO of the bunch and shows how terrible your proposal was.

Celtics 1st Rounder Next Year: Will be a pick in the 20's most likely. Still nothing to sneeze at as you gift them a cherry on top of the best banana split any Canadian has ever tasted.

The Celtics don't have a secondary scoring option to Thomas and no legit center. This deal gets them both. They still have Bradley as an elite defender, and cap space to throw a big deal at a stretch 4 like Ryan Anderson was FA opens up.

A bit of a digression, but would it be possible to merge all the dumb trade ideas into one thread?

Hayward has choked in the playoffs. Lowry this year had some help making the playoffs since he was the second best player on his team.

Actually you are wrong.

Hayward has played AND choked (massively) in the playoffs before:
2012 vs. the Spurs
4 games, 30.8 minutes/game, 18% FG, 8% 3P%, 2.8 rpg, 3.0 apg, 7.3 ppg.

True story.

The trade is an absolute joke.

Choking implies you were expected to do something. He was a 2nd year player playing against a 1 seed.

Ok I was wrong about Hayward playoff history. Man those are terrible numbers. In fairness he's a much better player now, but damn that's really bad.

Hayward and Lowry had pretty similar seasons. Offensively they were pretty much the same. Lowry shot a worse percentage from the field and took more shots and score 1-2 more points a game but also had more assists. Defensively I would give the edge to Hayward. Hayward also has more versatility over Lowry.

Biggest difference is that Lowry got to play robin to a better player on his team. DeRozan was the top player on that team, who scored the most, took the most shots and was the general focus of defenses. Hayward playing as our sidekick instead of our main player would be great for this team.

This was Lowrys best season at 29 years old, Hayward just had his best at 25. Hayward has a lot more upside and future over Lowry. Lowry is not an upgrade over Hayward at best it is a wash immediately but a downgrade in the future.

Again not a counter point. Celtics need a consistent second scorer to help Thomas. And they lack a legit starting center. I fail to see where that statement is something to laugh at. Or is it the cap space thing that's so humorous?

Fair assessment. I would say even if Lowry/Hayward is a wash Crowder is better than /Exum/Neto so that puts Utah ahead.

You are a dumbass. I counterpointed already and it's obvious how bad it is.
