Netflix recs?

A few months ago, I watched...

The Battered ******** Of Baseball (2014)

While I am not a baseball fan by by most of ya'll's standard, I do enjoy an occasional game and do understand the game. A good friend begged me to watch this documentary and told me I would love it. Well, I did. Who knew Kurt Russell's pedigree when it came to America's favorite past time? I didn't and to add to that, I had know idea about his father either. This was a well done documentary that should be watched by all sports fans if only for the rooted American history.

100% on RT.

I watched a couple of movies over the weekend...

First, More Than Honey (2013)

Great documentary on the importance of bees in our connected world. The information learned regarding the "Africanized Killer Bees" was surprising if not expected.

I also completely wasted my time watching:

Dope (2015)

A horrifically ****ty movie that is so poorly written and filled with sooo much cliched garbage, I understand why it was made. Suits ruin everything and have no clue. The scenarios of sexual child abuse, because that's no other way you can take them, were disconcerting.

An incredibly surprising 88% on RT. It easily scores a low 40 in my book.

OL, you're going to love this movie.

I've been wanting to see this documentary and finally got to this weekend...

Cartel Land (2015)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkYBbBK0qoM

A pretty stellar piece of work with great war-like access to "battle" scenes between cartels and the vigilantes that have been set up to protect the towns they do their crime in. While there is no narration from the filmmaker, the narrative is clear and the slippery slopes are pronounced. Beautiful shots throughout, solid camera work, even under duress and good sound.

89% on RT

I've had Netflix for some time but only started using it again like 2 months ago. Been voraciously tearing thru their content ever since..

Pretty sure the 3 best Karate Movies on there are;

1 - IP man (Donnie Yen)
2 - The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk (Jet Li)
3 - Big Boss (Bruce Lee)

Just got Murikan Netflix, and I need to review an environment-themed documentary for one of my classes.

Do you, or anyone else have recommends for a good environmental-documentary on Netflix? TIA!

EDIT: I suppose it doesn't have to be on Netflix, but I'd prefer a relatively newer one, and it being on Netflix is most convenient.

A bit late with this. You might enjoy this documentary. The region from NJ to Ma. has been called "the Saudi Arabia of offshore wind". This doc examines how various interests are approaching how to manage our offshore waters. This was produced in 2013....

I've been semi-binging on Dexter recently until

They killed off Rita.

This was the most absurd thing I've seen in a show and I completely lost interest right at that moment. Someone tell me

her dream character somehow replaces her. I mean, she was an obnoxious, annoying tool, but she was super hot and a huge part of the story line.

I'm bummed as this was the first show I was able to pick up in about 5 years.

Im watching making a murderer

I just finished the 2nd season of Turn. I enjoyed the first season, the second season was meh, based on how the 2nd season ended the third should be better than both.

Maybe I'll see if the third season is available on demand.

I've heard that point of view from someone else.

I hated Rita and that whole storyline and I was happy she was gone. I'm not 100% on where things go from there but the show has some highs and lows, but the last two seasons are good and worth going through the series for. Even though I didn't like the ending.

I've been watching Peaky Blinders. It has it's moments. I love Cillian Murphy as an actor (he's Scarecrow in The Dark Knight) and he plays this role very well.

I just got caught up on the series a few nights ago. Pretty good.

I'm nearing the end of Limitless, and have really enjoyed it. A shame it wasn't picked up for a second season.

I watched the first couple of episodes but didn't really get into it so I stopped. Glad you enjoyed it. That's always the trouble with the sci-fi/fantasy-type shows - they always cancel them too soon.

Ali Wong - Cobra

I've watched half. That woman is funny. My wife and I were laughing out asses off.

Shameless is bad ***. The characters are all great, and they introduce some of them slowly to add interest later on.

Fresh Meat was funny in the Brit comedy style of The Inbetweeners. If you haven't taken my advice to watch the latter yet you are probably a eunuch. It's better than Seinfeld.

I watched the first episode of Black Mirror and the show seems intriguing.

I think each episode is a stand alone story. I'd say it's looking like a modern day Twilight Zone.

The first episode starts with the kidnapping of a social media star Royal British Princess being kidnapped and the ransom is that the Prime Minister has to **** a pig on live TV.

Watched three episodes. First was meh. A little cheesy. Second was no good, and it employed the worst, most predictable, kind of twist.

Now the third was really good. It was one major plot hole away from great. It also shows how good an ending twist can be.

Edit: I'm talking about the latest season that was just released. The previous two seasons were excellent. With only one or two stinkers.
