Following 2016 potential draftees

My most important things in a prospect is GREAT three point shooting first and athleticism (mostly speed and quickness) second.

Who has the best combo of those two things in this draft in everyone's opinion?

For where he's projected I really like Malik Beasley... Not sure he will be a defensive stopper but he's a good shooter and he's got a quick release.

Young productive and athletic. I wish he was a bit bigger but his rebound rate shows that he uses what length he has pretty well.

Probably Beasley and Korkmaz.

Unless a guy we really love is available at 12, this is a great draft to trade down.

I think from about 10 or 12 to 32 there's not much gap between the players. Tons of good roster depth, which we desperately need.

I think it was CL who mentioned him earlier, but Hernangomez is a nice prospect. Good shooter, doing very well for his age, struggled defensively but I think that's mainly due to inexperience. Kinda slow laterally. Not sure if he could play with Lyles or not. Kinda reminds me of Illyasova.

I agree. They either need to identify somebody in the 3-10 range that they think will be a star and trade up, or trade down and get more picks.

Cal freshman Jaylen Brown worked out for the Celtics this week, but according to a source at the workout, it was Danuel House who stole the show, matching up nicely against Brown and showing he has the potential to be a steal as a 3-and-D wing in the second round.

Who is Danuel House?

Deandre Bembry

Bembry is a terrible 3pt shooter though. If you are looking for a ready made 3pt shooter with athletic ability, you would like Luwawu/Prince/Baldwin/Korkmaz/Beasley

I am a fan of this strategy... A random thought I had...

If we were to move the pick now and trade back before draft night would it have more value because of the chance of someone taking a draft night slide (say Jalen Brown or Chriss) or does it have more value to wait it out until the draft starts when we know who is available. The trades only seem to happen on draft night when GMs see who is available... would be interesting to see if someone like Denver would trade back blindly with the hopes that they get a guy they targeted with the seventh pick.

Would be interesting to make the call now and tell Denver hey we think there is a 20% this guy slides... we will flip the 12 for 15 and 19 right now and let you take your chances... If the guy slides on draft night we absolutely won't do a deal with you.

The reason to do this would be because if its Luwawu or Ellenson available I am not sure Denver would move both of those picks for 12. If Brown or Chriss was available I wouldn't want the Jazz to trade the pick for 15 and 19. Just a random thought.

I want to load up on assets for the 2017 draft. Call up Dallas, they don't have a pick this year, offer to trade our first this year for their first next year. Dallas needs to start getting younger and they might as well add a guy that gets some experience playing with a future hall of famer. We could use the roster spot in FA to bring in a bench guy that is ready to contribute from day 1 while adding to our 2017 horde. We would have 2 mid round picks next year plus GSW pick.

House definitely has potential as a 3D guy. Reminds me a bit of Justin Anderson from last year. Great athlete, NBA body, good size for a wing, didn't shoot it worth a **** his senior year which is why he's falling under the radar. If he can be consistent with the three, he's legit.

My expectation for Thon Maker is along the lines of Hassan Whiteside--a good defensive player, good motor, limited feel and skills offensively. He might be a bit better than that if he knocks down open looks. His FT percentage is encouraging at 71%. I just don't think he's going to be a guy you can give the ball to and get an important bucket. Whereas, I think Skal is likely to be an effective offensive player. Will see.

This is Hassan Whiteside entering the 2010 draft after his freshman year at Marshall. This is the version of Whiteside I was comparing Maker to as a prospect. Whiteside was 6'11.5", 225 lbs with a 9'5" standing reach at the same age. He was thin, somewhat athletic, but not explosive vertically, was fairly quick, but limited offensively. He scored on drop offs and put-backs with a few open jumpers. He was seen as a wildcard, with teams looking at him in the lottery, but he ended up getting drafted at the top of the 2nd round. I think overall that Whiteside is a fair expectation for Maker, understanding that it took Whiteside 4+ years to develop to where he is today.

That said, one of the reasons that Whiteside dropped in the 2010 draft was because he really screwed the pooch in some of his interviews. That might have cost him going in the first round. Maker has been interviewing really well apparently.

Saw this deal on Realgm and really liked it it:

Burke/12/42

for

Covington/24/26

What would others think? I liked that it completed our wing rotation (really the best we could hope for at 12, and still gives us two shots at the end of the first).
