Following 2016 potential draftees

Hayward is great defensively. I concede that. Offensively, if he's your #1 you might make the playoffs, but probably have to settle on the 12th pick.

We are settling for the 12th pick because of injuries and youth, not because Hayward is our leading scorer.

I still don't think Hayward's worth a max contract.

It's funny that this sentiment is even out there to me... The guy isn't worth his contract but we can trade him for a ton of value? He's either valuable or not right?

The people that argued against his contract kept saying it would be untradeable but I bet Danny ainge would be over the moon if we offered hay for #3. He'd be their best player and I don't think it's really close.

Last time I checked Hayward averaged 19.7 ppg this past season with 5 rebound and 4 assist per game. There are playoff teams who had their leading scorers average less points at a less efficient clip. There is nothing about Hayward scoring ability that is holding us back. It's the rest of the roster (namely the young parts like PG and only having 1 other playoff rotation worthy healthy wing) on the team.

If he falls to 8 Hood and 12 get it done. Hood might be close to enough by himself.

I still have a lot of faith in the core of this team and how it has been built. with an emphasis on 2-way players and length. Even though Hood isn't known as a defender, he does have great size for a 2 guard. I think trading him for a small SG (who at best will be an average defender) would be a mistake.

That would be a mistake.

I like Murrays long term prospects better than Hoods but hood could also take a leap. I like Hood but not married to him.

I see Hayward as our most irreplaceable piece. If someone felt strongly that Lyles is going to be as good or better than favors I could see a scenario where he is the most valuable trade asset that could be moved in a deal like this.

Favors not tradeable in this NBA. He is too versatile on D when teams go small.

That's fair and I have no problem with that line of thinking.

The idea of some of the things that Murray could do is tantalizing to me... I think our defense wouldn't take a big step back. Hood is an adequate defender but I don't see him ever being great on that end.
