George Hill coming to Utah

@ScottAgness: And would send George Hill to the Jazz. Hill’s camp has not yet been informed of any deal. twitter.com/WojVerticalNBA…

If we don't retain Hill and/or get another pick, then we'd all agree this is a bad deal, right?

If we win 50+ games, take pressure off of Exum and convince Hayward to re-sign, it's a good move. If we lose Hayward, it's a step back regardless and the 12 pick this year isn't a big difference maker.

Was just going to say I think Hill was traded for the #15 pick in 2011 (which was Kawhi Leonard) and now 5yrs later he's flipped for the #12 pick. While on the one side I get the win now and not needing another rookie, I am still wondering if there are little odds and ends/fillers that will still be announced later. What all is ATL getting obviously Teague is going to IND but there would have to be a few more moving pieces because IND is getting the best player out of this and so far has given up the least.

Indiana has plans to work on signing Teague to a contract extension, league sources tell @TheVertical.

So Indiana was the leak? Shame on them.

I'm surprised at the responses thus far. A dirt cheap top 10 (or so) PG for a meh late-lottery pick? That's a good trade for the Jazz. Pretty much the most exciting news we've heard in a long long time!

Not to mention it addresses 2 big areas of need. PG and 3 point shooting. Exum now has a cushion, shooting is better and Jazz are stronger going into this season. Winning will matter when you talk to Favors, Gobert, Hayward...about contracts. Also the Jazz still have plenty of room to go after a free agent or future trades as there are now 5 PGs. Exum, Hill, Burke, Neto and Mack.

Does it have risk? Sure but I love that he makes a move, for a player mentioned on here in the past, and its panned so hard.

This trade is absolutely asinine, Very disappointed. Trey Burke status. 100% certainty that years down the line this will look foolish.

This move doesn't make Utah a threat to the top teams in the west. This is a move to appease the fanbase, baby steps type ****.

No way is this anywhere near maximum extracted value for the pick either.. This reeks of Dennis Lindsey playing favorites..

Ya the Jazz should've maxed out Harrison Barnes instead.

In Utah, Mack averaged 31mpg, 5.3apg, 44%fg, 12.7ppg

Last season, Hill averaged 34mpg, 3apg, 44%fg, 12.1ppg

So how is Hill this massive upgrade over our current 2nd string? The only thing Hill does better than Mack is shoot the 3 (41% vs 36%). #12 could have been a very good player. I guess we really are afraid of grooming another good player like Lyles. Why?

This trade is stupid as hell.

Why does Indy get Teague and we get Hill? So stupid. Why didn't we get Teague?

Yeah, this is a great move. I think the people complaining about it aren't aware of how good Hill is.

It could end up being a **** move in the long term. He's an expiring contract. Even if we retain him, he's already on the wrong side of 30. Meanwhile, lottery picks are dirt cheap (especially as the cap continues to rise) and you're guaranteed to keep the guy you draft for 8+ years.

I'm okay with it, though. Obviously this means the Jazz didn't like their options at #12 this year. And I've always felt Hill would be an ideal trade target.

It's a good move for next season; only time will tell if it was the right long-term move.

I'm having difficulty understanding why we didn't just get Teague and leave Indiana out of this. Teague is two years younger and the better player.

LOL at jazzfanz complaining about losing the 12th pick. Stop living your life in the lottery, clearly the jazz want to
