Luol Deng ends up in Utah (Rumour)

Solomon Hill is also being targeted according to SLTrib, and that seems like a better option for the same type of money.

Deng basically zaps away all of the Lyles minutes-- Lyles at the 5 hasn't been particularly effective.

I don't mind it, but I can't see Deng being a fan of this tbh. If he was okay with 20-25mpg I don't see why we don't do this

I mean, if you look at the replacement, Deng would replace Ingles on depth chart, which is obviously an upgrade. However, price would be really high and I don't think Deng would want that role, so my initial reaction is that it won't happen.

No way Deng would be behind Burks on depth chart. He would be our 2nd or 3rd wing at worst. Likely Rodney becomes primary bench scorer and Deng starts, Hayward slips to the 2.

Solomon Hill, Deng...told you guys the Jazz were looking to upgrade Hood. Or maybe not upgrade him, but make him win the job.

I've said all summer:

Starting PG - check with Hill
Starting wing - sounds like they are looking for someone to come in and either push Hood or take his job.
backup big that can hit the three - to be continued.

I think Deng would be a NICE addition to the team. Professional veteran that is still producing. Of the players that have 10 pts/ 5 Rebs per game, there were only 27 SF/SGs and Deng was one. I would love for this to happen.

Dang it, I hate it when I agree with Green.

Or is that Deng it.

This is not a good question.

It was mostly tongue in cheek.
Every team and every agent does it. They just keep the illusion up by not allowing the GM or coach make public statements.

A few years back the Jazz were making public statements that they would follow the rules no matter how many other teams did not.

Deng played his best at the 4. That's slightly concerning in regards to Lyles. I think they're not very sold in his defense and want to make him earn it.

I'd assume he'd take all of Booker's and CJ's minutes

Didn't Dr Jones have info about a trade with Indiana using the #12 pick that would bring George to Utah? Might have been the wrong year, the wrong #12 and the wrong George, but it did happen.

If Deng comes in, at 6'9", he'll be a 3/4 combo forward - ideally one that will hit 35-36% from 3. he won't play any 2.

he played about half his minutes at 5 for Miami this year. He has the versatility that Quin and Dennis like. Certainly can defensively switch onto 2s but won't play the 2.
