I am shocked the Lakers wouldnt go hard after Whiteside first and then try for Bismack (for less money) at the center spot. Hell Speights, Zaza, Nene or Aldrich for less money than they paid him would have been better options imo.

NY Knicks are going to pay Noah 4 $72 million for a guy who got benched last year and has injury issues. At least Noah has some history of producing but that seems like a lot of money for a guy coming off an injury and is on the down side of his career.

Or we could have had 4 years of Murray on a rookie deal. The trade looked ok when it was rumored Hill was signing an extension. Now it's a 1 yr rental and either a walk or a massive overpay next summer.

Good point.
The trade still looks good on court for next year (hill is probably better than anybody we would have picked at #12) but if he leaves after this year or we have to pay him crazy mosgov money or more, then the trade sucked.

I still think he will get a contract starting at 32 million in year one and ending at 39 million in year 5.
I still wouldn't give it to him though. I would still be looking to trade him to avoid a big overpay like that would be.

He didn't say that hill will walk. He said that is one of the options.
The other option is that we have to overpay him which would maybe mean that we can't afford some of our other core guys.

Hayward would be a hero if he just took $30 million per year. That's a weird thing to write and read but it's true. If he left any money on the table, he would gain respect for "trying to keep the team intact."

Just really hard to imagine Hayward at $30 a year

Spurs players were always loved for stuff like that. If he took 95% of a mega max, he could always say he took a pay cut to stay. And maybe the younger guys would follow...

This isn't a shock, but our entire franchise sits at the feet of Favors and Hayward. If either helps us financially at least a little, they can be part of something beautiful here in Utah. If they demand and we give them the highest salaries possible, we are doomed to repeat the Boozer, Deron, Okur, AK days...

Who should they target then?

Trades or guys who are less established. If they can get one of these guys on a two year deal then it shouldn't hurt much but the market may force a 3 year deal for these guys.
