Joe Johnson Coming to Utah

Really like the contract. Pretty good player. I'm fine with it.
Will be interesting to see how minutes go when everyone is healthy.

Sadly I think Burks barely plays now. I'm thing burks gets about 15 mpg when the team is healthy

i'm not sure it affects Burks that much, actually. I think Johnson comes in primarily as a 3 and a small ball 4. He tips the scales at around 245 - he's a 3/4, really won't play any 2.

another reason JJ fits in well in Utah is he can really pass from that forward spot. jazz are going to need him to rebound a bit more than he did last year, but that's less important than his ability to pass the ball in this offense.

Great move & value. Adds outside shooting, experience, & someone who has hit big shots in the past. Also great to see someone of his caliber (regardless of age) choose Utah. Hill & Johnson are exactly the type of veterans we needed to fill out the roster with, really looking forward to this upcoming season.

I like the signing of Joe Johnson. A solid vet, his experience will help the Jazz. Excellent price and contract length. Go Jazz!

Both Hill and JJ are very clutch. Our record last year was not in line with our point differential mainly because we could not close out games. This is a great signing addressing this very issue and effectively making us a top5 team in the west.
Good point about us needing clutchness and hill and johnson providing it

It's cool how different each of our wing players are, and how much they can learn off each other.

We got Hayward as Lebron-lite, Burks as our slashing athletic driver, Hood being the pure scorer, and JJ being one of the best post-up wings of the last few years in the NBA. Hayward NEEDS to learn as much from Joe as possible. Will have massive payoffs for his game.

The wing rotation of Hood/Hayward/Burks/JoeJ might be the NBA's deepest
Plus don't forget that Hill can play some 2!

Not to mention that G Hill is a viable option for minutes at the 2. If guys are having an off night on the perimeter there is plenty of help to rotate through until we can find someone with some juice. I'm very pleased with this deal.
Ha, you beat me to it.

Great job DL. Totally under the radar. The contract length and price are excellent.
This
Love the contract. Never even heard of Joe Johnson interest from anybody. Totally under the radar.
I didn't even no JJ was a free agent since I never even heard his name mentioned by anyone for any team at all

48. Joe Johnson*SG / Brooklyn NetsAGE:*34*STATUS:*Unrestricted free agent

Analysis:*ISO Joe just keeps chugging along. He averaged his fewest points per game in 13 years (man, Joe Johnson's been around a long time) but still managed to shoot 44 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range at age 34. He's as durable as they get, a good locker room guy, a total pro and can play three positions at this point. He's still tough in the post, still a sneaky good playmaker and a guy who has absolutely zero fear of the late-game shot. Johnson is likely only available for super-contenders. He nearly signed with Cleveland, which could use him, but if the Warriors are looking to re-stock their bench, Johnson would be a prime candidate for a ring-chase rotation guy. If Johnson is looking for one more big deal, it gets hairy. A sizable two-year deal for a mid-level playoff team might be OK.

Good fit with: Miami, Cleveland, Oklahoma City, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee, Golden State

Someone noted earlier that Quin is liked around the league. I think jazz know that FA attraction was not just the regular topics of night life, market size, fear of Mormons, etc but reluctance to play for Sloan. I love Sloan as much as John and Karl, but he was a hard dude. Quin is the millennial's coach.

Also noteworthy, is that all the noise around jazz pursuits of FA did not include JJ. Is that jazz style or did the jazz get their third choice? (I have yet to listen to Locke's podcast for any insight on that. )

Great post.
Good stuff there. Really good acquisition by DL. So sneaky

I was up at five freaking thirty this morning - couldn't go back to sleep. Now off to clean the church. The fun never stops.
Well I'm working 12 hours of overtime today and working on the 4th of July, then have to do a 12 hour shift from 2am - 2pm on Tuesday and another 12 hour 2am - 2pm shift on Thursday. Add in all the not sleeping due to baby stuff and all the diaper changes..... I'm living it up this summer too!
