Joe Johnson Coming to Utah

how many losing teams has JJ been on through his career?

correct me if I'm wrong, but many of "his" winning teams didn't have sterling playoff records.

Bleh, never mind. I'm going to be associated as a hater when I'm not. This is good. But the mood seems surreally high over this. I hope JJ excels in a bench role.

Did anybody even notice how Greg boxed out Peter? Now that is how you f***** rebound!!
Yeah. It's hard to tell because of the way the video is edited but I think Greg might have launched it from 3. Didn't go in, but it's nice to see a center with range and the guts to take the shot.

The main thing will be how Quin uses his Johnson. Too much and we might see a limp Johnson on the court. Limit usage and we could see a lively and excited Johnson, shooting in amazing spurts.
Lol
Well done

We've had so little to get excited over for years. Booker and Withey; those were DL's previous "big" FA signings. We have pent up emotions. So let's all do a Lyles-like celebration and be happy.

LOL A signingof a washup player is going boost the Jazz to a 5th seed. Dude is smoking crack. Vet leadership but JJ is only a fraction of himself these days. Yall bash Lakers for Deng but Joe Johnson pushing Utah over the top. Laugh

I hear you. For me, I shouldn't be that excited about a 35 year old who I didn't like much when he was 25. But all I wanted was a a proven 3 point shooter who could defend the 3 and 4. That's exactly what he is and must be the reason I'm excited. And they got him at a very reasonable price. Much rather have JJ at 2/22 than Deng at 4/72.

The thing to keep in mind is that the Jazz are limiting players to 2 year deals and not getting completely raped on the salary. Who we're getting fills our overall needs and doesn't get in the way of our long term (mid term) plans.

You might be right that LA bounces back into the championships within 5 years. We all know that. We're not fans of LA, and while you say we're not a rival of LA, etc. keep in mind almost every fan base, especially in the West, hates LA. So duh, we hate LA too. I don't care who we are to them right now. As a legit Jazz fan and not just some troll on a Jazz forum, I hope we get the chance to get under their skin over the next several years, and I think we will.

P.S. this is just about as serious a response as you're ever gonna get from me. You don't really deserve it.

I'm definitely a little higher after this move than I would have guessed. You're 100% right, let's hope JJ comes in and excels in a bench role. That's about where the expectations should be.

I think I'm so high because I see the rest of the league throwing Oprah money around on bad 4 year deals and meanwhile the Jazz acquire George Hill and JJ. They are the EXACT kind of fits we were looking for heading into the offseason, and I have a hunch that they're exactly what Hayward was talking about when he expressed his desire to be surrounded with more talent. They don't hurt the flexibility of retaining our core, and the playoff-type veteran presence they are going to give this team cannot be over stated.

Seems like we have 1 more move left in us, but so far I'm giving DL an "A" for the offseason. I can't remember the last time I was more excited for an upcoming season. Gonna take some big strides this year.

I mean I would understand the criticism if he was picked up as a starter and a player we would be running lots of offence through-- it's hard to have good team offence with wings who are iso-heavy and aren't necessarily the best facilitators.

But as a bench wing with playoff experience? A bench player who isn't afraid of big moments and/or big shots?

I just don't see how any of Joe's oft-maligned shortcomings are exacerbated in the role he had with Miami & will now have with the Jazz.

Yup. I'd say one more energy/hustle player if we aren't high on Bolomboy. 2017 has always been the "all in" season IMO.

With the Suns as presently constituted maybe we could snipe Tucker for a 2nd rounder? PG depth is now sound, Withey can spot for Rudy (and we have Pleiss too). We still need that Trevor Booker replacement maybe.

Hill/Exum/Neto
Hood/Burks
Hayward/Johnson/Ingles
Favors/Lyles
Rudy/Withey/Pleiss

That's 13 dressed. Technically 15 on the roster, but Mack & Burke are likely gone (or maybe Neto instead of Mack). I say we trade for Tucker if we don't like Bolomboy & call it a season (after getting whatever assets for our departing PGs).

Obviously we are going to have to figure out the Burke, Neto, Mack thing. 2 of those guys are gone. We should get some type of asset back.

Thing is yall act like your the main rivals to the laker sand they don't recognize you. I heard a lot of Lakers fan in SLC too. Crap I see the jerseys when Lakers are playing in SLC...

Affalo just got 2/25. Johnson is much better at this point. DL stole Joe Johnson!
I would rather have affalo. Still like the jj pick up lots though.
