2011 draft.....

We'll probably end up with the 6th pick, and have to move up to 4 to get Barnes.
Is it worth it? I think so.

Right now I'd rather have Barnes than something like Vesely/Sullinger and Jimmer, but it's an interesting debate.

Question to you guys, lets say they end up with the 7th pick and 1-6 could be Irving, D Will, Sullinger, Kanter, Barnes and Jonas V, would you take Perry Jones?

There's a reason why none of you should ever be GMs in this league.

Right before the half, Barnes had 1 point and 0 FGs made.

With 7 mins left he has a whole 9 points.

And some of you think this is our savior? Against such elite defenders as Singler and other white boys from dukie university? The same school that has brought us such devastating players such as Boozer, Danny Ferry, and Jay Williams?

You people are dumbasses.

Then again, he'd fit right in with CJ, AK, and Raja. He bricked a ton of jumpshots in the first half which helped bury his team, is continually chucking away as his team falls behind by double digits, and isn't playing a lick of defense.

Yes. Get us Barnes. He alone will prevent us from being in the lottery again next year. He will own Kobe and Lebron and we'll win the NBA championship next year. for sure...

And who is your pick? Its either a PF tweener or an unknown Euro big. Please tell us your educated pick that will lead us to the the finals.

I wouldn't. I think think competitive desire and mental toughness are important, and I don't think Perry Jones has it. I'd look at Terrence Jones, Jan Vesely, and Kemba Walker.

Initially looking at Perry Jones I got hard, but then I watched him play and went soft.

I haven't watched him play but the comparison is T-Mac and the fact that he couldn't make his college team win enough to make the NCAA tournament makes me wonder if he is one of those guys who can score and look good on highlights but not help you actually win.

LOL

Defend your boy.

You point the finger at me, I'm calling your boy out. Defend him. I want to know why the Jazz should draft this guy. Sure, he had a great game a night ago, dumping 40. Today? an equally horrible game. Defend your boy. If he can't score on Singler, what makes you think he can score on NBA players?

Just like you Barnes is only 18 years old. Give him few years and he going to be a good 1.

T-Mac is a bad comparison, Jones isn't even close on shooting or handles.

How would you feel about trading #11 & #6 (assuming those are the picks they end up with) to get into the top 3?

#7 and #12 are most likely from the current trends, but it will certainly be an option for KOC who is looking to cut down salaries and manage enough playing time for all our guys. At the same time the top 3 isn't noticeably better than anyone in the top 7 this year, like it was in 2005 with Deron. I could make an argument that anyone in the top 7 should go first over someone like Irving or Sullinger. Even with the general consensus #1 Irving you have an incredibly small sample size of 8 regular season games to go on.

You neg repped me for not offering any alternatives, but neither did you. Since Barnes isn't better than Kobe, should we just give away our draft pick and pack up and move the franchise to Seattle?

One of the reasons why I neg repped you is that. And generally try and neg rep you every chance I can get. I saw an opportunity and took it dog. You gonna fault me for that?

Barnes might be a hell of a player. But I need to know why instead of the typical jazz fan hyperbole of "sweet this guy had a great game we should draft him." And then the next week, "Whooaa we need to draft this guy!"

It happens nearly every year. Is Barnes this week's flavor? Or is he really a guy we should consider?

As far as giving away our draft pick and pack up to Seattle? Sure sounds like a great idea. Besides, we might be fighting against the unavoidable anyway.

Also, if Barnes is the next Deng then we're in big time trouble. Hayward was our pick last year, and is a 3. Deng is a 3 too. If we think getting a player like Deng is going to save us we're in bigger trouble than I imagined. Unless Barnes gives us immediate help and plays the 2, or unless we get a franchise player with the other pick(s), we're going to be in the lottery for a very long time.

As it stands, this team struggling to stave off 30 point deficits is going to struggle to win 20 games next year. KOC is in desperate need for a GM of the year offseason just to make this team competitive again let alone win a championship.

This Jazz team might not win 3 more games this entire year. Dead serious, we're that bad man.

Give it 3-4 seasons and if I'm wrong call me whatever you want but there are a lot of "Harrison Barnes" in the NBA, IMO. If we get him I'll support him and hope Im wrong.

His ceiling, IMO, is OJ Mayo. I think at best he is a decent piece that is most likely inconsistent. Not marque material. If we don't have pieces to move to get Dwill or Irving I'd love if we traded out. Now, there may be a kid or 2 that impress at combines or workouts, if that's the case, great. I just don't see it being Barnes, maybe I'm wrong but I think the odds are in my favor.

Sweet.

So we can suck for the next 3 years until he's ready to play bigtime?

Then he can dump us and join the Lakers, Heat, Knicks, Mavs, or some other big market?

Awesome!

Sounds like a plan!

Anyone who has a legacy of championing Jarrett Jack and Gerald Green should not be so condescending toward others' opinions.

I am not convinced that moving into the top 3 would give us any better talent then what we have

If the Jazz think that Derrick Williams is going to be an all-star, then they would do well to move up and get him. Heck even if they think he's Shawn Marion.

Favors/Tomic, Jefferson and Williams would be a pretty strong front line.
