Rumor: Jazz and DeMarcus Cousins

It's pretty damn dominant to be averaging #4 in pts and #5 in boards.
No other player can lay claim to that.
How do you define dominate... just team wins?

If that's the case then Harrison Barnes >> than Hayward, Favors, Gobert...

Now swallow.

Welcome to fans of the Jazz. "We'd rather miss the playoffs with guys we've talked ourselves into having potential but really don't, than bring in talent and compete for titles."

I'm all for bringing in talent. Just not at the expense of chemistry. There is a reason guys like Cousins don't win. They have talent, they just destroy team chemistry. He's not worth it. He does not make us a title contender, we are far more likely to be picking in the top 5 if he's on the team than we are to be contending. If the Jazz were to trade for him the likely outcome is the rest of the talent on the team leaves/quits trying. He's that big of a Douche Bag on the court.

Didn't the cavs (the champs) have ****ing terrible chemistry all year and yet still won it all because they had amazing talent?

Yes that is what happened, plus GS choked and the league had their influence. But in theory I agree. Chemistry is also improved and cultivated by winning. Cousins is getting along with his Olympic squad team.

It'll never happen but a small-market team such as Utah can't afford to not bring in a talent such as Cousins, who's probably at minimum a top 5 talent in the entire league, if it's at all a possibility (which it's not). He obviously comes with flaws (otherwise he wouldn't be available, although I'm still not convinced that he is) but he is literally in quite possibly the worst situation in the NBA in SAC.

He's a guy that, imo, needs to be paired with the right coach & veteran teammates but absolutely could be the main piece to a championship contender. The notion that you can't win with him is ridiculous imo.

However, he is the type of player who seems to need to be in a near perfect situation to bring out the best in him (which I'm not 100% sure Utah would be, although we'd certainly be an upgrade from his current situation). If Utah has the chance to acquire a talent such as Cousins, they'd be crazy not to do so (within reason as there is obviously some risk involved). Unfortunately this is likely a pipedream at best.

Excellent post.

Go google biggest whiner in the nba. LeBron and Duncan show up on every list. Cousins makes some.
I took your advice only I accidentally left the "h" out of whiner. Google said:

Showing results for biggest weiner in the NBA.

The results gave me some information that I'd rather not have.

So who's got the biggest weiner? It's Shaq, isn't it?

Ok let's put the weiners back in the pants and back on the subject of Cousins.
There is no doubt he is a top talent. There is a good chance he will be the starting Center on the USA Oylmpic team. That has to say something about his skills and personality.
I have two questions. 1) Would he resign in two years when his contract is up? 2) would we be serious contenders now? I think the answer to both questions is no. There is no reason to trade for him if he is going to leave. We would give up Gobert for a two year lease. I could be wrong. He could love Salt Lake. If so, no brainer.
Jazz will not win a championship until they get a superstar. Cousins could be a superstar. The only thing stopping him is himself.
