Official UofU homer thread

Another win by taking over some of the Big 12 teams is the bowls. The PAC-12's bowls would go from "bleh" to amazing. Add the Sugar Bowl vs SEC to the bowl list.

Imagine this:

Rose Bowl vs Big 10
Sugar Bowl vs SEC
Russell Athletic Bowl vs ACC/ND
Cactus and Alamo Bowl vs a Big 10 or SEC team
Liberty Bowl vs SEC
Holiday Bowl vs Big 10
Foster Farms vs Big 10
Sun Bowl vs ACC
Then switch up the Vegas Bowl to a ACC/SEC team.

Wow, that would be amazing.

Holy crap. Not too bad. I think the only issue that the Lucky7 won't want to do that...BUT, if they left for another conference, they would lose their full payout until 2014. I do think some Lucky7 teams would get snapped up by the Big 10 and ACC....like Kansas.

You'd probably have to admit Ok, Ok St, some Texas team and go to 15. Have Texas take a ND type deal with the PAC-12. Then, when the LHN folds, they become a full member.

Texas would then be a pseudo-Indy team ala ND. Six games vs PAC-15 teams, BYU, another P5 school or two. That's 8-9 P5 games. Then they play filler. They would have a tough enough schedule for playoffs, but easy enough to win a lot of games.

Kansas gets a full invite.

The Lucky 7 are TT, TCU, Baylor, OK st, KS St, WVU. I think That if TX, OK, and KS told the other schools of their intention to leave after 2024(something those schools suspect anyway)I think they would be on board. The Lucky 7 get to keep Big12 money, get new P14N money, and are down 1 conference game. They have a long term landing spot that while not ideal is a lot better than they would otherwise have in 2025. They get more money now and get security for later.

Srsly everybody wins.

except BYU woot woot

Dimick and Fitts just made ESPN's top 25 player in the PAC-12. No mention on Lotulelei or Marcus Williams yet. 4 in the top 25? Impressive.

Chip Kelly would be a mistake at USC. USC's legacy is Pro Style Offense, NFL QB's, amazing run games and incredible defenses. Kelly is none of that. He would be wasted at USC.

You need a Kyle Whittingham there. You need a guy who loves defense and the run game. That plays to USC's strengths, history and tradition.

Or Jim Mora. Could you imagine that defense with Rosen as the QB? Wowza. USC may be the dumbest run school out there...with Texas.

Their legacy is winning. That's > style of system.

Their legacy is winning. That's > style of system.

You missed the point. Winning in football boils down to controlling the line of scrimmage, great defense, great run game and pro style QB.

USC has access to ALL of that. If that way can't be beat, then why go to a lessor system, that has a weak LOS, weak defense, and running QB?

Look at the best systems in the NFL and college right now. All have great defenses, great OL's, great run games. The QB is secondary to most. And USC can have all of that PLUS the best QB's. So why go away from that for a system that Kelly has shown he is unwilling to go away from? It makes no sense.

Utah has four players on ESPN's top 25 players in the PAC-12. Dimick, Fitts, Lotulelei and Marcus Williams. That's amazing. Our DL is going to be so good. I feel bad for any team with a suspect OL. lol. Can't freaking wait.

Sounds like nothing big. Just a personal problem. It wouldn't shock me if he's back before fall camp is over.

I've got 2 sources that are both telling me he was caught vaping some weed and shouldn't miss any games. I'm not usually a sources guy, this is new to me so in excited to see this play out and see if these sources are legit.

To the Ute fans freaking out this morning: Even though Utah is thin at WR, Butler-Byrd made 1 spectacular play at WR last year. I realize he's now full time offense and there's a lot of hope there but if Utah can't handle the loss of 1 WR that made 1 play downfield last year, then this program still has strides they need to make.

Camp starts today! Our Pre Season opener vs SUU is almost here!
What spread you putting on that game as of now?

I'm thinking utes by 38.

That d-Line should be as good as any utah has had. That's saying something. Where do fitts and Williams play?

Explain more please. I was looking forward to watching him. That receiving corps already looked thin on paper.

What was his punishment and how was he caught?
Nevermind, you guys explained below.

I don't think he should miss any games. I hope he doesn't. That would be lame.

Fitts is a DE. He's the guy that batted down all Mangum's throws last year. Williams is a FS. Williams was first team FS all PAC-12 last year.

Fitts, Dimick, Williams and Lotulelei will all be draft picks. Lotulelei and Williams will be first/second rounders. Fitts may be as well. Dimick, due to being slower, will probably be a late round guy.

Unlikely. Mangum did compete 25 passes for 315 yards in that game so I don't think he got all of them.

BYU's QB had 300+ yards passing with 44% completion. I'll take that every time because that means BYU lost. 44% completion is a problem.

Also, if you are down by 35 points, then proceed to throw it 46 times...you better have 300 yards plus passing. That's not that impressive.

He was 4/10 before Utah went up 35 points. After Utah went up, he went 21/46. That sucks.

I think my post sounds harsher than I want it to. Sorry. I don't mean to come off like a dick.

Wait, did I say he had a great game? Far from it. One of his worst for the season from a completion percentage standpoint and had 3 picks in that one game (only had 7 in all the other games combined).

Just saying that no dude batted down all of mangum passes as you said he did.
Agree to disagree I guess.
