Gonzaga vs. BYU Game Thread

If BYU wants to win then they better play and the Zags need to have a bad game. I've seen the Zags a few times throughout the year, they have really improved. Jimmer needs to shoot a high percentage and BYU guys need to finish plays when Jimmer passes them the ball. I was not really impressed with BYU vs Wofford except for their defense and Jimmer's passing. If his teammates could make a basket Jimmer would have had about 14 assists.

Zags have a big frontline which could give the cougs trouble.

Then again, BYU is due for a game shooting game from Emery.

To me, BYU is hit or miss. Without Davies, they don't have a post game. So they must rely on jumpshots. If they shoot well, they can beat nearly anyone in the country. If they don't..... Trouble.

This is why they severely miss Davies, to play in the post, and Loyd, to break down the defense and get easy buckets.

Just imagine if BYU had those 2. Had they played in the SEC and also didn't have an honor code, both those players would probably still be there.

I was thinking about this the other day. They would have a legit chance for national championship with those two.

Gee, what a surprise, Little Brother fans flooding a BYU game thread to bash the Cougs.

Does it ever get old for you folks? I thought that since you moved to the PAC-10 you didn't care about BYU anymore?

sigh...

I am stunned by your total lack of reading comprehension. I'd like you to find the post in this thread where I came in and bashed the Cougs. You won't find it because I posted nothing of the sort. In fact, the only time I directly mentioned BYU, I simply observed that they need a better performance against the Zags if they want to move on. That's a pretty basic take that I think most BYU fans would have no problem agreeing with.

So with nothing to go on, you come in here with your "little brother" talk and "what seed did Utah get this year" garbage. What I find amazingly funny is how quickly you and Spazz jumped into a couple of "oh yeah? well what about Utah?" tirades when I wasn't even taking shots at BYU in the first place.

That's a strange take considering that I never took a shot at BYU nor did I try to bring up Utah in some sad attempt to turn this into a rivalry thread. However, I find it extremely telling that you felt the need to do all of that yourself. Obviously, calling you a homer has really hurt your feelings. I sincerely apologize for that. I had no idea you are that thin-skinned and rattle so easily.

My bad, I thought you were coming here to have fun, and figured you could take it.
You start it with the homer line, then pretend to be the victim...nice and classic.
As to the homer thing... I think the homer comments are weak, so I thought I would have some fun with you on it.
Obviously it was more than you could take, even after you said my stuff was weak.
How is it that the only thing you respond to is my one line crack about the Red Rocks? That was just filler.
What about defending your popping pustules that populate your upper lip?

With posts like these, I seriously hope you're a 12-year old kid and not a grown man. However, I'm guessing you're an adult (physically anyway) and that just strikes me as very sad.

Get ready for Jimmer's last game with your sorry *** school before he's backing up Devin Harris.

games on now. BYU came out strong, everybody up for this game. BYU's first breakout was chilled with some poor ref calls, but no sweat. Now they're breaking out again.

yep, I was right. BYU has taken the first significant lead at 31-24. Zags look confused.

Jimmered.

BYU is very fluid on offense. Quite fun to watch (and honestly I'm rooting a bit for the Zags in this game).

I will say I am absolutely David Stockton biased here.

This is one of a only a few Jimmer games I've seen and I will say his ability to square his shoulders to the hoop while jumping off the dribble is kind of unreal.

I was going to say the same think kicky. He has an uncanny way of getting space then getting square to the basket. When he misses even they look good coming of his hand

David pierce seriously reminds me of his father, both with playing style/strengths aand looks. Go zags.

While I can appreciate your enthusiasm, you are doing what you always do.... imagining controversy. There have been a few posts by known Utah fans (myself included), but I don't recall any "flooding" or "bashing". But again, you seem to have an overly dramatized perception of Utah fans.

All the Utah fans around here have acknowledged that Utah sucked at basketball this season. BYU was infinitely better. No argument here. So you are probably going to have to go deeper in your tool box if your looking for something to hurt our feelings with.

By the way, maybe you can answer this question for me:

Why is it, to BYU fans of your ilk, basketball greatness is measured in the here and now, while football greatness is measured historically?

Convenience?

Anyway, I for one am enjoying seeing BYU run well. I hope they can keep it up (they're looking good against Zaga) and go deep in the tourney.

He does shoot straight. You know a guy can shoot when his misses are short or long.

I really do hope his lack of defensive...enthusiasm is a strategic decision and not a philosophical one. I'd be hard pressed to put him on the floor in the NBA given the effort he puts on that end.
