NFL 2016 Season Thread

Any reason why they don't schedule any NFL games on a Saturday? Seems like a real head scratcher for me....

In this day and age with the Internet and League Pass, etc, why not spread the games out, more viewership, grow the sport, ala NBA ...etc. But instead I see 9 games on at THE SAME TIME on Sunday.... smh.

NFL teams need rest. It's not hte NBA where you can play 2 games in 5 days. Player safety is suppose to be a thing they care about.

Saturday is college football day
They don't want conflicts
After college football schedule is over in 12 to 14 weeks NFL schedules some Saturday games

One game on the 17th of December and a bunch on Christmas Eve. I don't recall(in recent memory) a Saturday NFL game.

I don't think that's the reason, the number games would be the same, just spread out more. I think the reason has to do with what RFJ and slc mentioned which is the conflict with CFB.

Why dont they play on Tuesday then? Or does CFB own Tuesday too?

Sat and Sun are best days for games because most people don't work on those days, hence maximum revenue/ratings. It's therefore peculiar why there are no games on Sat.

There's nothing peculiar about not having games on Tue.

Yeah cuz Monday Night Football ratings are so trash....

And Sunday Night Football

And Thursday Night Football

They all do so bad cuz people work the next day.

My guess is they would have had to promote it hard to make it what it is today. It's not naturally a max. rev/ratings day.

But they still do it. There is such a thing as over-saturation and part of the reason football is so popular is because of how the schedule is set up.

Well then the question still remain - before they had Monday night football - why didn't they do 'Saturday Night football' first?

Answer: CFB.

Man, this Cowboys OLine is so freaking good. Romo, Dez, and Elliot would put up some ridiculous numbers if Romo wasn't injured.

Not sure if there are any other Eagles fans here, but Carson Wentz looked great today.

Can't wait to see what he can do against a real NFL defense.

It's almost as if the Giants gameplan was to key in on the run and let Dak try and beat him with all those long-devoloping pass routes and inability to find the endzone
Bruh he found the endzone. Cowboys dropped two easy TDs.

Alfred Morris also ran great when he got touches.

Elliot was just bad.

It could have been first game jitters but Elliott looked like he lacks the explosiveness to be a feature back at an NFL level. He had a couple of open field opportunities and The Giant D swarmed on him.

Dak looked decent - didn't make any mistakes or try to force anything. Played with a lot of poise. He'll win a few games while Romo is out.
