What's new

Obama might be the best President in 100 years.

You're one of those people who mistake the president for God? The president has little/nothing to do with most of what you said, even the complete fabrications, like crime and domestic terrorism. He does have a bit to do with job creation, and he's done very well with that.

He was a centrist president. He pursued a globalist policy. He hired good Justices to the SCOTUS. He improved our relationship with Cuba. He pushed a progressive social agenda here and there. He did not push for excessive regulation like many progressives wanted.

He had his flaws (real things, not the **** you mentioned). For example the continuation/expansion of the previous administration's surveillance policy, the mass deportation of immigrants, and the aggressive prosecution of whistle blowers. But overall, he was fine. He was acceptable. We could do better, but we could also do a lot worse.

stopped reading... and would do the same for you.

God for president!

If teh character from the Bible called "God" was running for president against Trump I'd probably have to hold my nose and vote for Trump. Talk about a genocidal maniac! Yikes.

Well, turns out I was wrong about the crime rate. It's going down. Do you think Obama should get credit for it now?

I already made my point clear. The things you mentioned have nothing to do with the presidency. Crime has been going down for thousands of years. It has nothing to do with Obama. It might go up over a period of a decade or two, but that is mostly due to fluctuating cultural and economic factors. Things like "race relations" have far deeper roots than Obama not acknowledging the police, or whatever role you think he's played.

And the "domestic terrorism" part... I don't even know...

Very little of what you said is relevant to the role of the president. It's pretty much the pop-culture view of the presidency, and not a serious position based on actual cause-and-effect analysis.

I would like to hear alt13's take on the subject though.

I can't believe anyone could think that violent crime has been going up. Over my entire lifetime it has been going down with a small blip in the 90s caused by the way the drug war was fought against crack cocaine that led to the necessity of crack suppliers to organize into street gangs.

oh, so all genocide is the product of a wast conspiracy coordinated by God.

Umm committed by him in the fables collected in "The Bible" and also directed by him. Are you denying that there are justified genocides in the Bible?

“This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.'" 1 Samuel 15:2-3

God is love.

What a beautiful sentiment.

In the past, I have always felt just fine when destroying children and sheep and goats and stuff.

Was I wrong for that?

Stupid ****in goats.

Did you kill any infants? Make note that God specifically asks them to kill all the infants, just in case someone interprets "children" to mean 5 year olds or something.

That's one of the examples I was thinking of, but I don't know enough to be able to reference the quote. Thanks Siro!

But I'm also thinking of how the Rainbow represents God's genocide of pretty much all of humanity, or I guess I should say it represents "Mission Accomplished" in regard to the slaughter of humanity, save one crazy dude who put 2 of all the worlds animals on one boat. I was on what, by all accounts, was a much larger ship that held up to 6000 sailors and 80 aircraft and I can tell you, that ark probably didn't smell very good, but at least it meant God wasn't going to kill you out of his infinite love for you.

I love Ricky Gervais.

Edit: Contains swear words. So just go to the link. It's hilarious.

So, by your logic, I'd suppose that the John Birch Society reporting various connections of influential Americans to alleged CPUSA "masterminds" has just got to be unbelievable because, hey, somebody would certainly snitch on them, or something like that. Therefore, the alleged Communist plot to destroy America from within has gotta be bunk.

That theory just strikes me as analogous to your allegation that God is behind all kinds of genocidal campaigns all over the world.

The Bible is suspect, in my opinion, as a reliable reference to the acts of God. The Old Testament was in the first place, non-existent prior to Solomon. There were Levite settlements (no farms, just an altar and some houses for the Levites). The Bible has some historical references to the age from Moses to Saul, the father of Solomon, alleging that the chief priest Phinehas did something wrong in allowing his children to run amok in wanton sensuality on the Temple steps, and according the Bible, his family was destroyed for this, and Samual the Prophet was recognized instead.

But basically, the idea was not specifically racial in nature, and it was always related to some offensive conduct that God hated or felt He could not allow to go unanswered.

Solomon got together the first standing army in Israel, and had his soldiers go around Israel busting up all the scattered altars and decreed that everyone had to come to Jerusalem and pay taxes and offer sacrifices to his priests there. Solomon established Statism in Israel, and he supported it with a State Religion, and he had his priestly scribes re-work the sacred history to confirm his absolute authority, and then he extracted infinite contributions from the people, and from the bigshots, and the heads of state for a thousand miles around, in some directions at least, to support the construction of the fabulous Temple.

Somehow, I doubt the truthful objectivity of the religious record that was started at that point in time. I don't think it necessarily speaks for God, even the God of Israel. Might be a little self-justifying attributions in there in regard to who is and who is not in God's favor. Might bear some reasoned study before just claiming God commanded all that.

I'll let God explain it if I ever see Him, okay?

I have similar questions in regard to the texts of Christianity, and the later prophets of the Old Testament, and such. And also with current and historical Mormon stuff, okay.

The Bible says don't respect false prophets. If someone claiming to be a prophet speaking for God says anything that isn't true or predicts anything that doesn't happen, God says don't you believe it.

The Bible also says that there will be a plague of false prophets in the last days, and that they will be destroyed so thoroughly that in what Israel remains, nobody will care to claim to be a prophet.

Okay, kiddos?

Was God wrong? Look at the worldwide problems cause they left a few alive each time. Would we have world peace had these peoples God said to destroy? Yes!

So God, the character from the Bible, did order genocides, then? I think that's what you just said, but it was all kind of hidden in gibberish.

I said your opinion of God looks like the delusional conspiracy theories you accuse others of having in regard to human management.... politics.

God, if a meaningful reality, would have to be something better than what anyone has imagined. If not much more merciful than we have even imagined, we would not have happened in the first place.

What would it take for an absolutely powerful, just, and moral Being to decide to put up with humans? Let alone promote us through an infinite caring labor throughout millennia?

Why would this absolutely powerful being even bother at all with what humans are doing? It's like a human flipping out over ant morality.

Additionally, Gameface is specifically talking about the character God from the Bible. Not your own personal view of what God is.
