2016 NBA Season Notes/Info

Brook Lopez utter destruction of Andre Drummond last night was hilarious. Check out Randy Foye's reaction around 2:10

I doubt Hornacek makes it thru the season in NY. He looka like a ****ty coach thus far. 4FGA's for Porzingis in a massacre loss??

I'ma be at the game sunday with a bunch of Knicks fsns, hopefully Utah jumps all over them.

Won't your NY friends find it weird you're rooting for the Jazz to win?

Good on you BTW.

What's happened to DALLAS??

I mean they used to be decent with their old players of Dirk, DWill, an aging Center, etc...

I guess the world has moved on and Mark Cuban hasn't moved with it. In today's NBA you need an injection of young athletic/skilled players and DALLAS are starving for quality young players right now not being in the lottery for the last so many years and trading promising young players for the likes of Rajon Rondo.

It's very interesting to me how they'll pan out this year.

Nah the only hardcore NBA fan I'm going with roots for the Rockets, because he's Chinese and the Yao connection. They know I watch thes games for more purposes than just fandom...

My friends that root for the Knicks aren't exactly the type that think Carmelo is some great player or anything close, their eternally pessimistic about the team.. they view it as the tragedy that it is.

Knicks can finally get paid off in the lottery for being bad tho, no more owed 1sts.

Part of the reason i'm convinced Hornacek is a lame-duck.

Am I right in thinking that Carmelo is holding the Knicks hostage with the 'no trade' clause when he signed as a FA and forced Phil to keep the team relevant with trades for DRose and Noah?

He is just biting his time until Carmelo's contract finishes and go in a different direction with Porzingis?

I don't think Carmelo's forcing Phil to do anything, I think Phil has enabled/encouraged this.

I don't like a lot of the moves they've made, Phil's put too many eggs in the baskets of Courtney Lee and especially Joakim Noah that one in particular reminds me of ****ty moves of past Knicks GM's. they'll rue the day they signed that deal, should've had some balls to make a bigger splash in FA and roll with Hernangomez at C.

Last year I think I saw an interviewer asking Phil about what moves he's gonna make to make the team better, he sorta had this 'resigned' expression on his face, shoulder slumped, and just said a few things including 'and of course we can't trade Carmelo due to the non-trade clause'.

I watched quite a bit of Knicks last year cos I had Porzingis in my fantasy team, it was clear Carmelo's well past his prime and the team should be built around Porzingis with lots of young players. May be tank a couple of years to load up on young talents. His hands are tied there.

If I'm completely honest I kinda expected the injury to Jeremy Lin actually. He hasn't always played big minutes and I knew the toll of playing big minutes for the Nets would somehow catch up with him.

On top of that, as an Asian I know how our bodies are and it's not as durable as other race physically.

Can we chalk this last statement up to you bring naive?

It's very interesting to me how they'll pan out this year.

I've been listening to the Mav's podcast, the dudes who do it have basically been taking the pi$$ out of their team leading up to the season starting and have a pretty dim view of where they're headed this year. They think Harrison Barnes contract is a disaster, Dirk is really deteriorating and that JJ Barea is the only real consistent creator. They're ticked that they haven't drafted or developed ANYBODY. Things are not looking SOLID at all for the Mavs

Stephenson is probably the only guy there who could or should be starting on that team in a couple years. I guess Barnes too.

Thanks for your input man, gotta say the highlighted bit's pretty random though.. LOL ... do you have so much free time and you're like "I think i'll listen to a DALLAS podcast day" ?!?!?!?!

Andrew Bogut is from a place close where my work is, so i sort of follow him a bit, i had a listen to one of their podcasts after he was traded to see what the Dallas people were expecting from him. I just like the style of the dudes doing that podcast, very down to earth and realistic with the assessment of their team and other teams.
