2016 NBA Season Notes/Info

Warriors defense and rebounding leaves much to be desired...especially when guys are having an off shooting night

It's interesting because future questions will beg how much the acquisition of Durant was really needed, when it also meant the departures of key players that really added to the depth and versatility of the team.

The Golden State of yesteryear was a team of versatility and a "****-you" offence that teams spent entire games trying not to trigger.

I'm not sure you call Golden State a "versatile" team anymore. If the Spurs get George Hill next year & keep the rest of their roster they will absolutely crush them in the playoffs. As presently constituted the Spurs have a massive hole at the PG spot & using Kawhi to guard Steph will just result in some career shooting nights by Kevin Durant (who'll guard him? Green? Then who'll guard Klay?).

Golden State also much more motivated to just dominate the whole ****ing year last year. I think they are just coasting to an extent.

their kids will hit a wall. I think you can explain this early-season success like you explain a blind squirrel finding a nut.

Maybe, but they play a great style and share the ball. Ingram hasnt even "broken out" yet and if you think that is going to happen this year, they still have a lot of room for improvement this year. They have already beaten 3 playoff teams from last year.

Negged for even suggesting the possibility that Hill will leave Utah for SA.

Think of the hoards of money they're gonna throw his way. He also called Pop one of the best people he's ever met/one of his most favourite people ever earlier this season when we played the Spurs.

I have my worries. It's honestly quite likely that one member of our core is going to be poached-- whether it's Hood, Hayward, Favors, or Hayward. It'll probably come down to which player is most replaceable with another young athlete on our roster.

Enjoy 2017 while it lasts. We might not have this capable, and deep of a team for a while. The West seems flawed and in disarray.

Losing Hill would suck but I trust the process and trust Exum. He needs to just work on his handle like a madman. Every day for like an hour a day.

Not to mention he met his wife in San Antonio, so he still has strong ties to the area.

Hoping Spurs don't get Hill. Best thing for the Jazz would be to have a really great year where they are competitive in the regular season and the playoffs. They can be better than the Spurs this year.

Everyone needs to look at the Spurs roster tbh. I get that they are the Spurs and they have the Popovich factor, but their roster is not as talented or deep as in years past. Soft bigs, awful point guards, and elderly men and scrubs on the bench. For a team that plays great defense, they have an awful lot of question marks when it comes to individual defenders... and they have what, two consistent scorers, and one playmaker? Good thing they play with great focus all the time.

Interesting note on the whole Hill thing, he is looking into moving his brothers to SLC so they can play at Lone Peak High School.

Jazz next opponent (Hornets) up 75-55 at halftime against the Pacers in Charlotte

Hopefully Hill is back so we have a chance at containing Kemba.

Thinking the same thing. Also would be a bigger guy that can score for Kemba to guard also.

That's gonna be a really tough game. Hornets have looked great to start the season.

It was one of the best games last year.

I was hoping this might be the season Kyrie finally steps up as a real co-star for Lebron, looks like not yet. (team points per 100 possesions)

Lebron without Kyrie/Love - 160.7 Offense 100.0 Defense
Kyrie/Love without Lebron - 108.0 Offense 132.0 Defense

Obviously small sample size applies (only ~30 minutes for each), but it continues the trend from the last few seasons. Lebron is the Cavs, they are nothing without him.
