Jazz the best 3-pt shooting team in the league?

As of right now, we’re essentially tied with San Antonio at 40% as a team (according to ESPN’s numbers) for the best percentage. Hard to believe that this is sustainable, but compared to last year, it is amazing how well our team is shooting from three.

When you put that many shooters on the floor, it seems like everyone is getting good looks. We’re also shooting 46% on shots between 25’ and 29’, which is 6% higher than any other team. Oh, and Exum’s pulling a 50, 40, 90 right now. We’ve never had this kind of shooting across the board. If our defense can click again, look out!

Exum is really flying the radar I think. I mean the only knock on his play so far is that he hasn't been assertive enough.....maybe? He's playing incredibly well on both ends. Passing well, driving well. And he'll only get better.
 
Major boner alert. I said all off-season this was the one thing we needed to work on more than any other. The Dubs, Spurs and Cavs were all great (best 3 I think) from 3 last year and they were the best three teams in the league.
 
Except we have three point shooting AND length. Hayward back and Joe Jesus leading the bench is sooooo fresh!
 
the amount of space to get off a shot seems to have a exponential curve: you add two more shooters, and things open up quickly. I don't know if this is sustainable, but I'm sure our guys will continue to have more space for their shots.
 
I made a post last week saying we would be one of the best teams in the NBA this year and that we could beat any team, at any time... once we're healthy and in the groove. Someone slammed me for being unrealistic. Well we all know how important 3pt. shooting is so this is just another reason to be high on the Jazz.

I'm positive some of our players will not shoot this well through the season, and Hayward has struggled from three over his first two games. I do believe that Trey's averages will come up, so hopefully his improvement will make up for the inevitable drop from the other players like JJ, who is shooting 54% from three. His stroke looked too good in summer league and last year.

It seems like many, if not most, of those shots are wide open. Jazz aren't really jacking a three early in the shot clock. If the scheme holds, our percentages shouldn't drop too much.

Additionally, young players that add a lot to their game traditionally struggle earlier in the season (see Hayward, Gordon.) It is one thing to add new moves. It is another thing to polish them against true NBA defense. Lyle swill come around, especially as the starter and bench roles become more stable.

Definitely, we blew out San Antonio on their homecourt where they only lost one game all of last season. So yeah, on any given night, if we are hot from 3 we can beat anyone.

And on any given night is going to be on most nights pretty soon. Hayward looks unbelievably good, Hood is better, Rudy is better, Favors looks pretty good, Hill has been outstanding, Dante has done quite well, Johnson is working out, Mack is pretty good, Ingles is solid, Withey has been good, Lyles needs work but gives glimpses, Neto ain't so bad, and Bolomboy could be for real. Plus if Burks comes back that adds another solid player who can also go off.

I'd say we have very little to complain about and a lot to be excited about. Things are looking ****ing SOLID at this point.

I fully expect Lyles to be in the mid to upper thirties by the end of the season. There's just no way that Johnson stays at 54%. He'll come down at least to 45%, which is unbelievable shooting. Hood will come down as well from 48%. Will Exum stay at 43%? Ingles could get better, and so could Lyles. What will Hayward shoot from three? As you've said, the shots are open, so I fully expect us to be in the top throughout the year.
 
Strange. You add guys that can shoot and your percentage as a team goes up.

We are definitely jacking up more 3s as well. I think I saw Hood take a contested 3 from 2 feet behind the line with about 15 seconds left on the clock vs. Philly. Snyder is really giving the guys freedom to take bad shots. This ain't Jerry Sloan's team any more.
 
When you add a healthy Favors and Burks to this equation, things start to get dangerous for the rest of the league.

Hayward gonna make LeBron look a little old. LeBron is about 250 lbs. What does Gordon weigh these days? Maybe close to 240 lbs.?

No way Hayward is 240. I would say 225 max, probably more like 220 during the season.

Hayward is chiseled, but not nearly as thick as guys like Melo, LB,J, Artest, and other bulky SF's.
