President-elect Donald Trump plans to deport or imprison somewhere between 2 million and 3 million undocumented immigrants as soon as he takes office.

In an interview with CBS News that will air Sunday night, Trump said he would launch what could be the largest mass deportation effort in modern history, vowing to immediately deport a number of people comparable to the record-setting figure that President Barack Obama carried out over two terms in office.

“What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, where a lot of these people, probably 2 million, it could be even 3 million, we are getting them out of our country or we are going to incarcerate,” Trump said in the interview. “But we’re getting them out of our country, they’re here illegally.”

We don't really have an issues with illegal immigrants in New Zealand (although I'm not convinced about this one love guy :p ) because we basically have a wall around the whole country (maybe ya'll should try it).

But seriously my question is, does anyone really disagree with removing illegal criminals, gang members, drug dealers etc? Seems pretty sensible to me.

Im okay with getting rid of people. But isnt that what we are already trying to do. Do we arrest people who are illegal immigrants for those crimes and not try and deport them currently? What cost and what measures is he going to take to do that. He isnt in office yet but I want to hear the actual plan before I judge it. So far it seems he is going to spend a lot of money fighting something that will not change much. I also think the war on drugs has been and will continue to be a huge huge waste of money and has made things worse.
 
If he wants to get rid of drug dealers, sure. If he wants to get rid of any immigrant with a drug offense, not so much.

He paints a picture of scary "bad hombres" but the reality is most of those 2-3 million are going to be family oriented people who are productive members of our society.

But apparently he believes in the boogeyman and it wasn't just a campaign tool.

Round them all up? Humm, gonna need to create some special camps to keep them all in.
 
Sucks pretty bad because I don't have a taco stand on my corner yet.

A representative of the Trump campaign said that if Clinton got elected we'd have a taco stand on every corner.

Now you really know why I voted for Clinton... I love tacos.

I am

We have a criminal justice system. If they commit a crime they should be sentenced in the same manner as anyone else.

My wife knew a kid that had been here since he was an infant. English was his primary language and he couldn't speak Spanish fluently. He got busted on possession of marijuana when he was 19 and he got deported to Guatemala IIRC. This **** is cruel.
 
This is what he should do. Any illegal immigrant that has a criminal history with violence is deported. Everybody else gets amnesty. Then from there forward if you cross illegally you are permanently ineligible to become a citizen and will be jailed if you cross. Also, make it easier to become a citizen if you want to as long as you can pass a background check. That way people will try to do it the right way.

On Washington Boulevard in Ogden near 25th street there are dueling taco carts. They both rock. I've done extensive taste tasting.

Is he offering amnesty? I have not seen that. Also are we not deporting illegal immigrants that violent criminal history? I thought we were already doing that. How do we accomplish tracking down and deporting all the current illegal immigrants with violent criminal history? Door to door massive sweeps? His idea sound nice but the logistics sounds rough and I think we are already deporting anyone arrested for violent crimes but I could be wrong on that.

I do like making it easier to become a citizen if you pass a background check. I agree with that. It also needs to cost less. I am in favor of more people paying taxes that are in this country. Although that has more to do with holding employers accountable.

Hmm, ill have to try them out and compare them to the dueling taco stands near my house in SLC on state st and 8th South.

I dont know what his plan is. That was just my idea. I think its a pretty common sense approach to it.

I would hope he would do something like that so it would cool off a lot of this racism talk. Giving amnesty to everyone who isnt a violent criminal would go a long way in repairing some of the country and show that it isnt about racism, but more about the rule of law.

I want to believe that he isnt a racist.

Deporting a whole bunch of good people who are already here would be a very bad thing and cause a lot of problems. I definitely dont support anything like that. I hope he does the right thing here.

And I dont know how you round up all the bad ones either. Thats the big question. Its a very tricky situation.

You know what. Actually amnesty is the ultimate answer to how you find the bad ones. If you have nothing to hide or havent done nothing then you can start accounting for everyone. Put a deadline on it, and if dont come forward, then thats your fault and you miss your opportunity.
 
I've found it odd that he keeps promising to remove the criminal illegals as if no one has ever thought to do that. What does he think has been happening? How will he do it better than law enforcement already does?

This was funny to me too, ~2.5 million criminal immigrants have been deported during Obama's tenure.
 
I agree that illegal immigrants should be deported. They already violated their new country's laws by entering or not leaving on time ( if on turist visa ). Respect for the law should be there or otherwise why we even have the laws?
