22 year old 6'4" Shohei Otani. I read an article yesterday with a scout saying he could sign for $300MM

Hope the Yanks get him. He won't be posted til next offseason.

He's also been clocked in at 103 mph.. and 99 in the 8th inning..

According to the scout who says he could go for 300MM's all 3 of his off-speed pitches are 70+ on a 20-80 scale..

Have there been recent guys in the MLB that both pitch and DH?

I don't follow baseball at all but not to my knowledge. I think every once in a while someone like Bumgartner or another good hitting pitcher may be used as a pinch hitter in a certain situation but never as a DH I don't think.

Not possible, would be too much wear and tear on a pitcher to bat everyday they aren't pitching.

I wanna say John Olerud, if you guys remember him, was a really good pitcher in the minors. For some reason, I wanna say he was ambidextrous and could pitch lefty and righty too. Maybe I'm getting two guys confused though.

I don't think the Yankees will go for him unless they can get under the luxury tax threshhold for a year.

Looks solid though.

Well, they dumped McCann. That's a start...though they are eating 5.5M each of the next two years.

They got a 20 year old who throws 99 and a 21 year old who throws 100 in return. Yanks farm system is an embarrassment of riches at this point.

It is pretty ridiculous.

I am most decidedly not sad about that. :)

I will miss McCann, he's a solid guy and has been a solid if unspectacular player while in New York. He deserves a chance to start and flourish. It's not his fault that Gary Sanchez hit the scene and exceeded expectations. Hell, if Sanchez had simply met expectations instead of exceeding them, McCann would still have been expendable. I wish him well in Houston.

Ive always wondered why this wasnt a thing in baseball. I guess it's insanely hard to do.

Yankees would want to wait until 2019 to sign him anyway. Post-luxury tax reduction, they could really go for him if he's still playing super well.
