What he does is helps top ranked HS talent maintain or improve their ranking going into the NBA draft. Which is an extremely difficult task that he makes look routine.

If the talent is potent enough, and it tends to be, many of those players will end up on bad teams, with tons of guaranteed $$.

Good NBA teams tend to have 3 damn good players. Being one really good player on an otherwise bad team is like being a king with your head in a noose or a caged lion or something like that, which is the position Cousins, Wall, and Davis have found themselves in.

Or maybe they can't lead or make those around them better. Maybe Cal instills no character, nothing truly lasting, and these guys are only as resilient as a tsetse fly.

Thats terribly presumptuous, the fact of the matter is they're young players born in the 90's and too often being asked to carry older players, or unfit managements slack, and get scapegoated in the process.

With all the overturn we see it's fair to say this is a scapegoat league. (Ask Harrison Barnes..)

Leading players who are capable of fulfilling their roles is one thing, whats been asked of DeMarcus Cousins is another.

Yeah I tend to agree ... look at what NO is doing with the team and tell me if they are not trying to make the team as bad as possible. Demp has to be one of the worst GM in the NBA still getting paid.

They could've easily done much better, the Buddy Heild pick was awful, I'd have been furious if that was 'my' team... Also they've been mired with injuries for years running.

Yeah but they also did it to themselves with that trade for Jrue who has had a history of injuries... they weren't ready to contend yet they traded away that pick for Jrue at that time. That was a bad BAD move IMO.

Jrues injury history wasn't that bad in Philly. I think most games he missed was like 10 before trade.

The Jrue trade wasn't the deathknell though. they could've still made it work. lots of their other moves compounded that error.

It's unfathomable that they never got a good big to pair Davis with.. Thats why I depise the Hield pick. Should've just taken Poeltl.
