What's new

How many games has Joe Johnson won us this year?

I'm really happy to see the Burks optimism flowing in this thread. I periodically check this site and I feel like many fans had moved on from Burks. I remember talk (I think it started from Locke), of Ingles being more important than Alec, even when healthy. It's a legitimate argument. For me, I'd like to see a healthy Burks cut into Mack's time.

Even though his impact numbers-wise is limited, JJ has been key for the Jazz when they've needed it. I was hoping to grab him last year after Brooklyn cut him, but he's more than earned his money this year imo. How many games last year would the Jazz have lost at the end due to inexperience and young player mistakes? Johnson, Hill and Diaw (somewhat) have helped cut that down dramatically.

You just know Joe has more big shots left in him for the Jazz this year. That game against Portland was all i needed to see from him this year.

1.7 win shares according to sports-reference; .6 coming from OWS 1.1 from DWS

Those stats are deceiving because they factor in a player's total time on the floor. JJ has come through with several clutch performances that won games for the Jazz this year which can't be measured.

Dude makes toughest shots look easy. We'll need him A LOT the postseason, hope he'll be healthy and energetic come playoff time.

does JJ make the hall of fame? honest question.

No. Good scorer for his career, but not overly special. Only 5 seasons > 20 pts, and of those only 1 of real note (25/per). Career 44%/37%. Solid player, but never dominant, nor were his teams.

Dude is totally clutch, performs his best when the chips are on the line. That's his claim to fame and the reason I'd be surprised if he doesn't make the HOF. But regardless, he's totally outperforming his contract for this team and we're lucky to have him.
