Is Gobert the best Center in the Western Conference?

Gobert is the best center in the NBA right now.

His advanced stats are borderline insane.

2nd in Offensive Rating
3rd in Defensive Rating
7th in Win Shares (12th in Offensive WS, 2th in Defensive WS)
3th in Defensive Box Plus Minus

1st in True Shooting Percentage, Effective Field Goal Percentage and 2pt Field Goal Percentage
1st in Blocks per game and Block Percentage
7th in Rebound Percentage
6th in Rebounds Per Game

He should be an allstar with what he does every night...

If Rudy gets left out of ASG I feel kinda bad for what he'll do to the league post all-stay break. Actually, no I don't, because it'll be fun to watch.

So honest question - Vivek calls DL and is like "umh... Cousins for Gobert straight up?"

What say you?

Sactown does that in a heartbeat, because Rudy is signed for 4 more years and Cousins is going to bolt at the end of his contract.

Coaches 2 wildcard votes will mostly go to guards, so we'll have 6 guards and 6 bigs on the roster. So pick 6 bigs:

1. KG
2. Kawhi
3. AD
4. Gasol
5. Gobert
6. Griffin
7. Draymond
8. Hayward
9. Cousins
10. KAT
11. Who am I missing?

Order is pulled out of my butt. I'll do a real ranking as the game approaches. I don't think anyone beyond the first 3 are shoe-ins.

Gasol is currently the best center in the NBA (his game is simply complete, and his three-point shooting is just WTF) but I think more GMs would choose Rudy if they had to start with a 5 on their roster simply because of the youth factor.

So I'd say 1) Gasol 2) Rudy 3) whogivesa****

This is who I think will be selected:
KG - lock, yeah why not pick a retired first ballot hall-of-famer, Garnett was awesome!
Kawhi - lock (Spurs 2nd best record in NBA)
AD - lock (stats too impressive to ignore despite bad team record)
Cousins - lock (same reasoning as AD)
Griffin - he's been an all-star every year of his career except last season when he was injured, Clippers 3rd best record in west.

That leaves us with one final spot for bigs:
If the Jazz have at least 30-33 wins by the end of January and are ahead of Memphis/Houston in the standings, it will be Gobert.

If not, it will be Gasol. Hayward/Gobert left off the all-star team.

Is sacto called you offer them favors for cousins.

Could you imagine

Gobert and cousins starting together?

Hill, mack, neto
Hood, exum
Hayward, johnson, ingles
Cousins, Lyles
Gobert, diaw, withey

Burks might even be in there bumping exum to 3rd.

That team could contend with any team in the nba.

Crocodile Dante I got megged for recommending this in one of your threads. People here seem to think are strong run with healthy HHH plus Lyles playing deadly stretch fill in still needs Favors.

I think Cousins fills a better role if he could take a backseat an play within Quin's system.

I love Gobert but how are you all putting him anywhere near AD? Siro best center?

Before you judge I already predicted Rudy will win MVP before AD. Rudy is straight up changing impacting games.

Cause most have AD as a power forward, not a center.

DeAndre jordan
LaMarcus aldridge

Is wiggins a forward or guard?

The big question is who'll get voted in?

Nice analysis. I could be completely wrong, but I don't think Cousins is a lock. I think some will pick Gobert over Cousins. Gobert is as dominant on D as Cousins is on O. I trust coaches more than fans, especially taking into account intangibles like helping his team win. Each coach has a pain in the *** player to deal with and Cousins reminds them. And the Kings suck.

And if the Clips slide, Blake may not be a lock.

If the Jazz get healthy and win a bunch, you force coaches hands to vote Gobert.

Marc Gasol's two-way play is superior IMO

Really? I like Gasol's game, he makes the most out of what he has, but (and it's a really big butt as Peewee would say), Gobert is just sooo much more athletic. Gasol's got more experience and he definitely has the better outside shot but Gobert has the physical gifts and the youth. As far as rim protection right now, Gobert is far superior. Gasol's got a 6.2 rpg and a 1.6 blkpg compared to 11.6 rpg and 2.8 blkpg for Gobert.

You didnt mention passing, where Gasol is the best in the NBA from the center position.

These next two games will be a really good test for Rudy's progress Adams has physically just manhandled Rudy the last year or so, and Gasol has given him some problems. If he has good games against these two his elite status will be absolutely legit

I was reading his follow up comments yesterday where he was trying to backtrack and justify what he said at the same time. Guy's an idiot, or a troll.
Regardless, he has a job in the NBA as a journalist.

Makes me hopeful I can become one lol

Kevin Garnett is on the all-star ballot this year? That would be beyond ridiculous if he is on the all-star team. Maybe I am missing something though.

You right DU, but honestly at this point I really don't expect anything less. I mean who really anticipated this quantum leap from Rudy? From my recollection it was like he signed the new deal, he stopped dropping passes and really turned the corner on all aspects of his game. So now I guess I'm like - the sky's the limit.
