What's new

USA Today calling Jazz the new elite in the West:

We've been in a sweet soft spot of the schedule with quite a bit of easy games, but we've also beaten some good teams in between. The next stretch will be a real litmus test.

Cappy has already gone on record as saying Jazz are on the doorstep of becoming elite. Utah hasn't had an elite team since S&M. IMO, the real measure of an elite team is the ability to win games on the road. By the end of the season, even with the injuries, I expect this to be the best road team since John and Karl.

Haven't posted for a while but now that the Jazz seem to be competitive again, I may drop by more often! I see there on ESPN tonight....been a long time, right? Against the pathetic Mavs, if they lose this game...they won't be on again for another year or so!

No good deed goes unpunished.

True, but you are not alone in that.

Jazz actually have a fairly good number of Nationally available games this year. Like a dozen or so I think.

Welcome back, Phil.

NBATV doesn't count. They are on ABC(whoa!)in April versus SAS. Most of the nationally televised are not good teams though. Lakers, Pistons, Knicks, etc..

I would not call it elite but I would call the Jazz a team so full of everything and deep that there absolutely is no reason for them not to take what they want. To me the best part of Jazz is there is no elite talent on the team to become the ball hog so you can expect contribution from anyone.

If you put the teams into tiers, I think a healthy Utah team could be in that top tier, which means they'd be elite. You can't call them that yet, because we haven't seen the team healthy yet. However, a quarter of the way through the season, they were 1 of only 3 teams(now 4) in the top 10 efficiency both offensively and defensively, and they've done that having been decimated with injuries. For a team that's not yet elite, they are definitely knocking on the door.

Pretty much every year, this team has been one or two players away from making some serious noise in the playoffs. That is no longer the case. Utah can be a legit contender with the team currently constructed as is, just so long as they get mostly healthy.
