Jazz at Dubs Official Game Thread -- 8:30PM MT: NBATV, ROOT

I'm sure it's been said, but there was no way that we were going to beat an engaged GSW team without Favors and Hill. No ****ing way. Hopefully next time the Jazz will be closer to full strength and we really get to see what they can do.

#HoodDiarrheaGame2016

I live in San Francisco. When I was back in SLC for Thanksgiving, I paid $80 for great lower bowl tickets about 15 rows away from the court at the Smart Home. I paid $100 last night for nosebleed tickets at Oracle and wish I hadn't.

That said, a few thoughts from being at the game in person:

1) Chill. This loss, while painful both to Jazz fans and players, doesn't suggest that we need to examine every aspect of our franchise and its players and hit a reset button. We've known that the Warriors are the best team in the NBA since the Durant decision. We've known that the Jazz aren't in the same tier of champion contention and that it would take a great deal of luck for the Jazz to rise above the Warriors in the next two years, requiring some combination of injuries to the Warriors' core four and development from Rudy, Hood, Exum, and Lyles that goes way above their suggested arc (of which only Rudy, and to a lesser extent Hood, are accomplishing.)

2) Give the Jazz a perfectly healthy roster, put this game in Salt Lake, and take out both of Curry and Green and take away half a game of Klay. Insert Ian Clark to run the point for the majority of minutes. Who wins now? Because that's essentially what the Jazz were up against last night. No Favs, no Hill, not much of Hood. It's really hard to win against a superteam of this caliber. It's far harder when there's still major injuries.

3) OKC lost with their All Star point guard putting up great numbers. Portland lost with their All Star point guard putting up good numbers. Houston lost with their All Star guard putting up amazing numbers. Hayward could have certainly had a better game, but let's not pretend that when you're the first option on a team with your second, third, and fourth option all being injured for the full or half of the game that you're going to have an easy time.

4) The Warriors are insane. Watching them in person was nuts and I'm both thankful that I was able to see what may go down as one of the greater teams in history, sad that it came against a terrible Jazz loss, and frankly, just disgusted that the league created the conditions that allowed this to happen. We need far more parity in the NBA and, as fans, we need to put pressure on the NBA to make systemic changes so that the LeBron Heat and the Durant Warriors can't happen any more. It, quite simply, doesn't foster the competitive equity that is so important for sports. And the only way it changes is if fans put pressure on the league, and the owners, to change the system.

Great post.

It's true, the Warriors are insane. That was some unbelievable basketball. When they were clicking last night the defense was like a stirred up beehive. Some of the best basketball I've ever seen I think.

That said I loved the way we started the game. Our defense was incredible and our offense was too, our shots just wouldn't go in.

but enough about Hayward. This team stunk up the bed against the big boys.

I not as angry as the loss as I am WORRIED about the lack of nasty on this team.

My biggest concern about this team taking the big next step is that lack of a nasty energy player. Or the fact that none of our key players seem to play with a lot of fire/nastiness. Sure Hill seems to be an intense guy, but injuries have left question marks about his durability. Favors, and Hood have shown a little flash here or there or emotion but nothing more than a glimpse. Hayward the same. Gobert is about as nasty as it comes, and he still doesnt come across as a super intense guy on the court. Lyles fun, energy, but toughness? We've seen him butt heads with a few players, but his defense tends to be soft. Diaw no. Mack is a spazz. Where is the toughness and grit? Burks?

I decided to post now to reaffirm this concept! I hate Draymond Green but every team needs a player like him with his intensity and grit! I'm worried about the lack of nasty of this team in playoff time.

Yesterday I wanted the Jazz to play tough just because Green laughed at Snyder in the last game in SLC but it didn't happen.

I want the Jazz to trade for Jae Crowder.

What's Jae Crowder like?

What's Jae Crowder like?

He's tough as ****. But we ain't getting him unless it's Burks and a 1st for him. More likely it would take Burks and two 1sts but even those (the GS and OKC picks) are so low I don't think it would be enough.

I'd prefer Bogut. He's a far better backup than Withey and has exactly the attitude we need.

Hill-Mack-Exum (**** him)
Hood-Burks
Hayward-Johnson
Favors-Diaw-Lyles
Gobert-Bogut

Ouch, that was ugly.

I expected a loss but hoped it wouldn't be a blowout.

The most disappointing thing about the game was how Hayward disappeared, yet again, in a big game. He seems to consistently wilt under the bright lights. You can't have your best player consistently fail to show up on the national stage. Sometimes I think Hayward has some mental weakness issues; he seems to go into a funk now and again where he just does not seem mentally engaged. I have no idea if that's the case, but the I believe each time this year the Jazz have been on national TV (Bulls, Mavericks, now Warriors), Hayward has laid an egg. This is not encouraging with regards to how one might expect him to lead the team in the playoffs.

Whatever Cy. Get a life, seriously. Everyone can have an opinion, you're not the only one who's always 100% right.

Come on, he's the guy that called folks clowns & idiots for discussing the possibility that Gobert may not get a full max contract. And Exum would get 3 ftas/ game.

The guy is never wrong. He's the dawgone smartest guy here, surrounded by us morons.

Bow to the awesome arrogance that is Drag Queen Cy.

Pretty good posts. Doubt Hayward has the ability to score 60 points in a game no matter who are his teammates though and for me that's what puts Thompson slightly ahead of hayward.

To max or not to max Hayward is quite the conundrum for me right now.

Will be interesting to see how the season plays out when hill is out there with hayward.

Hayward is great and continues to be passionate about improving, and continues to improve. I'd like him to be even more of a facilitator after the Jazz are back at full-strength. Think he has skills to be a top SF assistor (second to LeBron?).

A lot of overreaction to a bad game for him and the team. Max him. Cap is going up to $120M, we'll be okay with his salary. We've got to make decisions on who to keep and where to cut bait. As Exum looks less and less likely to demand top money (regrettably), the silver lining is that means more cap space to those who earn it.

(see how I did that without insulting people?)

But you insulted many people by saying Drag Queen Cy. Not only a personal attack on Cy, but pretty deameaning to people overall and especially to cross dressers/ drag queens.

Hayward isn't far removed from 7 TOs in one game, and even less removed from 6 pts on 2-10 shooting. I'm not sure I want him facilitating even more. Yeah, it's the best team in the league, but Hayward has disappeared in big games before.

Didn't watch the game but I don't know what people expected with four of our guys missing.

Maybe we just expected a little better than last time we played them when we had even more of our guys missing. It's nothing to panic over -- we had a bad game. But man was it a horrible game for almost everyone.

May this game be known as the Hood Diarrhea Game, henceforth.

*someone please make a meme.

Would it be the most embarrassing thing in the history of sports if a player had a mud leak during a basketball game?

Like last night I just thought maybe Hood would get an oppurtunity to dunk so hard his bowels would explode, and Draymond would be right under him. That'd be the best.

There's a theory that Paul Pierce **** his pants in his wheel chair game. So he faked the injury to get off the court without dumping mud all over the hardwood. Some video evidence shows he's got a brown spot on his shorts right before the incident.

Also would explain how he miraculously came right out after being wheeled off like he was on his death bed.

Don't want to give him too much ego but Cy is one of the best posters we have, and I would truly be upset if he stopped posting. He's basketball smart and probably our most even-keeled and rational/logical poster on basketball we have on here.

Agreed. Sometimes a bit heavy handed, and acting like a know-it-all dick, but overall I enjoy his posts. He knows bball really well and is pretty unbiased for the most part. And is pretty funny quite often.
