What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

pgab,

How much do you know about Lonzo Ball's (and the other two sons) dad? I've read some articles on him and he's both sort of brilliant yet extremely nauseating.

uhh.. I know a good bit. One of the other sites I post on is inundated with posts about the Balls. What he's done is certainly brilliant, you'd have to be a hater to say otherwise - the results are conclusive.

Honestly I think him training them to shoot like that from 30-40 ft from an early age might even be more beneficial for girls.. I'm thinking about trying to teach my nieces that form when they're old enough.

Without going back through 99 pages, pgab, what are your thoughts on Lydon for us as the pick?

He may be in our range, could play some 3 or 4 (anywhere from a 6'10"-6'11.75" wingspan...Hayward's is 6'7.75") and can hit the 3. I also like his 7.7 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists. I've never watched him play. Would he be too redundant with Lyles?

I think Lydon's stock is rather volatile so he should be watched closely, he's shooting 44% from 3 which alleviates plenty of concerns.. Syracuse has been all over the place so far this year. A 33-pt loss to St. Johns is an ominous sign... He's been hot lately tho..

Last year he was asked to anchor the middle of the zone even though he's undersized, and performed admirably. This year he's not blocking shots like that but is transitioning out to the perimiter. He's certainly best served in the NBA as a SF type who can also play small-ball 4. He might be alil bit redundant with Lyles, he might be complimentary. You can't really have too much 3pt shooting these days..

Now how he stacks up vs the SF crop is a whole different story... There's some very talented wildcards involved.. At this point I'm taking UCLA's T.J. Leaf over Lydon hands down. I'm certain Leaf has better ball-skills for a 3, and I think he's a better passer. Leaf's father was a pro in Israel for 20 years and taught him many tricks.

There's also the Latvian Rodions Kurucs who appears to be a superior athlete (and Lydon is a pretty damn good one)

It's also not out of the question that OG Anunoby and the injured Miles Bridges stock could sink back into the Jazz range..

Hopefully there will be some damn fine options at SF with the first pick in the 2nd rd too, a player like Notre Dame's Jr. V.J. Beachem is 6'8" and a marksman from 3. Jacob Evans from Cinci could be really good. Keita Bates-Diop certainly projects as a better defender at the 3. Even Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk could be in the mix..

Maten is so productive seemingly every game. love how he can step out and hit the three, but man it's an ugly shot.

Yeah, it's super flat. One of the flattest shots I have ever seen. His FT's are exactly the same. He has been a solid FT shooter throughout his career, so idk, maybe it will translate.

Monk with another 34 points... and ESPN #1 of top ten.

Lol... trying to edit the vid (okay did)

Bam with 25
Monk with 34
Briscoe with UK's only 3rd triple double (all time) and 2nd of the season. 19, 11, 10.

I don't mind Maten he actually plays a bit like Pascal Siakam. I had him high in the 2nd rd next year but I could see him going somewhere in the mid-40's this year. Interested to see how he measures out. DX certainly has him well under-ranked.

I'm extremely skeptical he's a better prospect than 6'8" Nevada So. PF Cameron Oliver. If you haven't seen him I assure u he's one of the most underrated bigs in the nation. If he was 6'10" instead of 6'8" he might be a lottery pick.Oliver's already made more 3's than last year and he's shooting them at a 43% on a decent clip (4.5 per game after just 1.6 as a Fr.) pretty sizable uptick, if he can somehow keep the pace it portends very well for his stock (and fit on Utah seeing as he's a fine shot-blocker for 6'8" -- Better than Sap)

Bam and Briscoe are really picking it up.

Whats the word on Diallo? A rather bizarre recruitment huh?

It is. I'm hearing strong whispers that he's Kentucky bound and will join the team January 11th. Told Calipari he will NOT put his name in the '17 draft. Pinky swore I bet.

Knew he was gonna be a big deal the second I saw that putback dunk on Josh Jackson(and posted it here).suhweeeet!!! What an addition!! He can function as a SF for this team easily.

They really have some soldier types up and down the lineup. It portends well. This is the type of squad you want to bring to battle IMO..

So many athletic lineup possibilities.

They MUST get another shooter for next year tho..

Safe to say Jaylen Adams is the best player in the A-10.. Read the Thunder, Mavericks, Magic and Celtics have scouts have this game..

Single-handedly destroying UMAss. An efficient 27 on the board with 8 mins to go.

He's a Jr. but if he keeps playing like this he can definitely get drafted this year. (Had him at the bottom of the 2nd rd in the 2018 mock i posted not long ag0)

Jarrett Allen falling to the Jazz pick would basically be a jackpot scenario. Texas is unexpectedly brutal this year so there might be forces at work helping him fall..

He's certainly the type of player that fans would marvel at his improvement in his first few years because he's just scratching the surface.
