When will Hayward surpass AK47 as the 2nd best Jazz SF of All Time?

Nobody is saying he should have played more through AK. But he failed to put him in position which would be most beneficial for the team. AK standing in the corner and clearing space for Deron and Boozer pick and roll is not the best AK you can get. But even Sloan admitted that he mishandled AK and had no clue how to use his talent.

Great point. It came from Sloan's own lips - hard to argue with that.

MVP's player evaluation process:

Is the player Eastern European or Russian? If so, player is great.

Is the player not Eastern European or Russian? If so, **** that player.

CY player evaluation:

Does he play for the Jazz? if yes - he is great if not he sucks unless he is named Otto Porter.

My favorite player ( hint, he leads league in DRPM) is neither Eastern European nor Russian ( Russia is in Eastern Europe by the way so why bother including it as separate entity?)

Crazy train to say that Hayward is a poor defender. Get that **** outa here.

5 years in a row can't even crack top 30 SF list in DRPM. Yet some of you still think he is good defender. And yes I watch the games and Hayward should never ever be compared to AK on defense.

I never compared him to AK as a defender. I said he never could come close to prime AK as a defender. But AK was superior on D only during the early years of his career. After about 2006, he no longer was the same player, in part because of injuries. There were other things going on too. Part of it mishandling by Sloan, early friction with Deron, his own doubts about his ability to shoot, his egocentric need to score. Also, AK seemed to give up around 2007 his desire to improve his game. And I see you still go on your stats about Hayward. Just watch the games and tell me Hayward is not a good defender. One poster made a good point about AK gambling too much, and it was something that often pissed off Jerry and would cause him to take AK out of the game. Hayward does play a lot better fundamental position defense, no matter what part of AK's career you are talking about. AK was able to get away with poor positioning because of his length and quick reactions. However, his lateral quickness diminished considerably in his later years, perhaps because of lack of interest.

The last time I remember AK playing HOF defense was in the 2007 playoffs against Golden State when he shut down Stephen Jackson who had been on a tear in their upset of the Mavs who were the defending champs and had the league's best record.

He was the reason our team never took the next step because he couldnt adapt his game.

Hayward is a terrific player, and I'm not even arguing that AK was better, but this is just straight up horse ****.

It isnt though.

Yes it is. Absolutely horse ****.

The reason that team never took the next step is because you can only go so far with poor defensive bigs. No matter what happened with AK, Boozer and Memo where just too flawed on the defensive end for Utah to really go anywhere.

Like I said, buncha AK haters on this board, simply because of the contract he got. There's a couple of people like James and Mission accomplished who have the same attitude toward Hayward because of him signing with the Hornets, and if Utah had just given Hayward a max without testing the market, there would be a whole group of morons trashing Hayward for not being able to get us into the playoffs.

Y'all are James and Mission accomplished when it comes to Ak.

Lmao, I told you he was on of my favorite players of all time. I didn't hate him while he was here, but in hindsight he really hurt the team by not being able to adapt his game.

I'm not upset because the contract he got. I'm upset about his mental weakness and the times when we were elite his heart was somewhere else. The fact that we argue about whether he's justified in not having his heart in it is baffling as a lot of us couldn't get past "his heart's not in it."

When were we elite?

I said, to my eye test Hayward is above average defender, but his defensive stats tell he is bad defender. He is not anywhere the prime AK or elite defenders in NBA like Kawhi, Gianis, Thabo, Butler, Allen, etc. He does not play better fundamental defense , otherwise he would limit his opponents to low percentage shots...and stats tell that whoever is facing Hayward is usually having no troubles scoring.
I can't believe anybody can still argue about Haywards defense when he is not even top 30 SF in DRPM
