Following potential 2017 draftees...

Utah St Sr. Jalen Moore has the fairly unique distinction of being a prospect that someone pointed out to me on this forum(usually its the other way around if you haven't noticed)..

There's a marked uptick in his play this year, especially his 3pt shooting. He's 4/5 from 3 in a 1pt game at the half vs a game New Mexico team.

Anyways - He's going into the 2nd rd of my next update.

BTW - Atrocious showing tonight from UL's "PG" prospect Donovann Mitchell. It's funny I'm actually starting to become convinced that Mahmoud might ultimately be their most 'draft ready' this year (Been pointing him out here since he was totally off the DX lists). 6 blocks tonight

Dr. Jones I've gotta run one more rumor by ya. I already know almost exactly what your answer is gonna be, but I like to be thorough.

Basically heard that Evan Daniels and Brian Snow said Diallo won't play a minute in college on the Arizona Scout page.

I know more but can't share here.
PM coming.

Everytime I watch SDSU this year it's the same thing, the Jeremy Hemsley show.. He's probably one of the most underappreciated PG's in the nation. He's very much a scoring PG with an even AST/TO ration..

6'3" and he shoots 50% from 3 and can really get to the rack and he's really got a nice repertoire of sneaky finishes at the rim (as seen here..)

#64 in DX's sophomore rankings is a total joke.. this kid is a fringe-draftable talent with potential to secure a spot in the 2nd rd..

At this point it's almost impossible for me to believe that Malik Pope is the best prospect on SDSU, He might be 3rd (Cheatham)

This is to be taken as a compliment - he reminds me a bit of Josh Selby.. (obviously not as bouncy -- but who is?)

I am liking Cameron oliver alot for the jazz.

Glad I'm not the only one! I'm rather certain he's gonna be popular in this thread by the time the draft rolls around. He passes the eye test with flying colors and to me almost seems to have a tailor made game for a 3rd string PF/development project in Utah..

Projecting this far ahead is a bit.. obtuse.. but I can't help but think that an undersized PF with that type of athleticism/skill would obviously be able to showcase well next to a C like Rudy. He's got some legit shotblocking instincts too. Far from a 1 trick pony.

Pretty much has an identical build to a young Millsap too.

It'd be fantastic if somehow they got him in the second and somehow Miles Bridges in the 1st. They'd really bring a ton of attitude, athleticism, toughness, skill and potential to the table eventually, and are great projects to groom.

I wonder if he could play some 3, ala current Joe Johnson. Similar builds but oliver needs to work on his handle.

I dont think u wanna drag him away from the rim considering his shot blocking prowess.
He's actually built like Trevor Booker but with like 3-4 more inches of WS (Their standing reaches are probably the same at 8'10) Like Booker I believe he can be relied on to effectively play like he's inches taller vs a wide variety of opponents as long as the C next to him isn't a midget/punk.

Kinda like a more reckless bouncier(obvious 40"+ vert) Thomas Robinson with a 3pt shot and way better shotblocking instincts... I've got a sneaking suspicion he's higher on teams boards than these mocks would lead us to believe. I can't help but think that Geurschon Yabusele going in the teens last year is a very good sign for his prospects... I think he's kinda got 'super-sub' written all over him..

There's some peculiar inconsistencies between their Seniors list (updated December 30th) and that mock. Most glaringly Josh Hart being 7th on the Seniors list and the first Sr. off the board in the mock..

the fact that they've got Thomas Bryant up there and no Justin Patton is telling. Devin Robinson in the early 40's seems skewed..

They've got Donovann Mitchell at 29 but I thought he played terribly last night, certainly wouldn't take him over Mushidi..

Interesting to see Mathias Lessort flying up the board. Paceniks too. Kurucs up all the way to the lottery..

Maybe the idea of the seniors top100 is to highlight upside, while making the draft list he thinks about teams in that range could draft Hart for instant impact and/or role player potential.

Just watched some Justin Patton... looks very very very intriguing. To the point where I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone at our pick. Nice blend of physical profile and skill... He's a 7 footer, who is mobile, defends the rim well and is shooting insane 75% from the field and is at 5/8 from 3 this season(not sustainable obviously but shows potential in developing a shot). Has some post game and very nice touch around the rim. Even tries to put it on the floor a bit... look at this:

Here's DX analysis of his matchup against top-ranked Villanova:

Why does Bam keep falling on DXs mock? I don't get this? What's the deal with him? He looks like absolute surefire top 10 pick in any draft. IMO. Oh well... let him keep falling. I won't mind us picking him.

Wait til you see the highlights from last night, that's the crown jewel of his season thus far and the big kid on St. Johns is really no pushover 7'5" ws and quick off the ground(might still be growing in his 20's too) check his blocks per/whatever, Tariq Owens..

I trust Patton's talent in a similar fashion as Zach LaVine, I'm staunch hes got lottery potential - I don't give a **** if DX has him outside of the top-30.

I suspect he's a better prospect than Greg Monroe. I don't see how DX thinks Tony Bradley, Thomas Bryant and Anibogu are better(..

I also have no clue why he wouldn't declare this year.

He was being listed there as a PF, they just changed it to C. I've had him listed as C/PF for a while now and I'm right.

Well one good reason is Isaiah Hartenstein was way too low, that needed to be corrected. The other is the position they list him at, it's telling. I'm sure if they thought he was a C/PF or even PF/C he'd be much closer to the top-10. Given what they think of his position, they proabably don't think he's as scarce a commodity as you might assume **cough**Ike Anibogu**cough**

I think it's fair to ask; Is he really a better prospect than Julius Randle? I'm gonna have to say no at this point..

I don't think of him like Randle at all... He's a 5 to me and I still like him in top 10. I know he's not as tall as is ideal for the position, but in the new NBA you don't really need 7+ footers at the 5. He's like a better version of Biyombo with better floor game and better hands. I'd take him over Hartenstein 10/10 times.

Tbh when you watch the Jazz and Rudy, then length matters around the rim most of the time.

It matters, but it's not like Bam has t-rex arms. His length is OK and his athleticism is well above 99% of the players of similar or better size. I think he can guard 1-5 in the league. His movement on D is sublime and he actually can play a bit on offense. And he can hit his FTs at a reasonable rate. I don't know... I really like him. I am not sure I can put him in the top 10 right now, simply because I absolutely love this draft and I'm crushing on a ton of prospects, but if not exactly in the top 10, he needs to be very close to it.

So Draymond potential? Well that would be intriguing for a team that already has some pieces. Hartenstein on the other hand has phenomenal upside on offense. I don't know much about him. But if I compare his size with Howard, Howard has a 4 inch advantage in standing reach and longer arms. There're not many guys at that size that are truly elite defensively.
Think about the Lakers who got D'Snitchchat, Ingram and Randle - all project to become very good on offense. They could be intrigued by a defensive anchor, screensetter and lobtarget. They won't have their pick though if it falls below 3 - too bad.
Other teams like the Mavs, Heat, Nets, Magic or Suns don't have their two potential stars in the making, some not even one. They should always take a chance on someone with Hartenstein's toolkit and pray that he ends up in the Durant, Porzingis, Giannis stratosphere.
