What's new

Of all the Jazz injuries this year, why can't Mack get hurt?

He played well in the first quarter, but I have to agree f'd up big time in the 4th quarter. I wish Quin put Dante back in; he was doing a decent job on Lowry when he was in.

Yep 17 points on 7/9 shooting. He was **** for sure.

Yes coming down the stretch he struggled. He is a bench PG closing a game on the road, against a very good team, and against a PG playing out of his mind right now. Mack could drop 40 points in a game and everyone would focus on a turnover he had.

Mack LOST the Jazz the Raptors game single handedly.

Ridiculous!!! Even after he'd thrown the ball away for a turnover in the fourth leading to Ingles being inserted, Hood and Hayward couldn't bury open shots and Ingles got stripped by Lowery who then blew by him for an easy lay up. Actually, Mack was doing a good job neutralizing Lowery in the first half and was out-playing him offensively. Very sloppy game for the Jazz down the stretch and Mack was only a small part of the story of our collapse.

Problem is that once Lowry turned it on, Mack couldn't handle him, and I think it affected his offense in the 4th, so that he made some bad plays, two turnovers in a row when we were still ahead. I think that would've been a good time to put in Dante. In any case, we can't have Mack and Ingles as our main perimeter defenders in the 4th quarter. We won't beat any elite teams that way.

and Dante isn't doing much better if at all. He's fouling everyone he guards so I wouldn't expect much better against someone like Lowry.

WE ARE MISSING OUR STARTING PG WHO PLAYS GOOD DEFENSE, IS CALM AND EXPERIENCED, AND HAS A PER OF 25.95 ON THE SEASON. Of course when we don't have him we're going to struggle at that position.

Well, Mack was pretty much helpless and hopeless at that point. It seemed to me that Dante's length bothered Lowry a bit.

Mack played great, but at teh end of the day he is a bench player and you cant expect him to keep up with a guy like Lowry for a full game, especially when the refs blow the whistle if you breathe on him.

Mack an Ab for Rondo... What would we gain and what would we lose. Would he kill the team chemistry?

He's already got a terrible attitude about coming off the bench, how's he going to feel getting traded and coming off the bench again behind Hill?
I imagine he would see Hill as an equal.
I know it's a silly idea of a trade . I've been a big Rondo fan for awhile before I found the Jazz.I think he could help Exum and Neto along as well to compliment Hill's mentoring.

I had to scratch my head with the substitution of Ingles for Mack, you're right that Exum would have been the better choice. Neto would have been a better choice than Ingles. I mean I like that guy but he's simply not quick enough to cover Lowry. And let's not forget that Mack had a solid game until he got a little rattled in the fourth, scoring nine of our first fifteen points and finishing with seven of nine shooting.

Are you insane ?? Rondo is junk and a head case. He'll be lucky to get another contract when his current one is up

Actually, Ingles got back, defended the shot well and rebounded the missed layup. Just about the only time anyone stopped Lowry in the last quarter.

I went back and checked, and I now agree Mack was a big part, but still not the only part.

With 6:24 to go, we led 85-79. We had outscored the Raptors 12-8 to this point, and Mack had played the first five minutes of the quarter, so he was part of the unit building this lead.

Mack came back in with 5:11 to go, we still led 85-81.

He then committed two turnovers and two fouls, while Lowry (his man) scored 9 points, dished an assist for a dunk, and grabbed a rebound. Mack was subbed out with 2:42 to go, the score 88-94.

So yeah, we were outscored 3-13 during Mack's second stint, with 11 of these points generated by his man. But we were also outscored 5-9 when he was off the court in the last quarter, so he wasn't the only one who wilted in crunch time.

No one should EVER wish injury on an athlete...ever. Hoping for someone to get hurt on an opposing team is pretty trashy and lame...but wishing that on our own team? C'mon man

We were definitely "piped" by the refs this game. I remember one play with Dante playing perfect position defense on Lowry -- they showed it at a very good angle -- Lowry drives in, pushes off Dante, causing contact and they called it on Dante. The refs need to start calling the pushing off by the offensive player.
