What's new

Cleveland Cavaliers (28-8) @ Utah Jazz (23-16) - 7 PM MT

Lebron didn't even try to get to the rim tonight. He was scared ****less to have his soul devoured by the Rim Reaper.

And agreed about the crowd. I already feel like my voice is gone lol

Sent from my SM-G930P using JazzFanz mobile app

I sensed a little bit of that but clearly he was frustrated by joe Ingles... the Lebron stopper.

I thought tonight was an example of how we should play with 4 out and Rudy more. People can say favs doesn't hurt our spacing but they had three guys guarding every pick and roll and favs couldn't hurt him.

I know he's good, but two bigs that don't space the floor, don't create, and aren't elite passers is going to be easy to stop in the playoffs.

When we had multiple wings or Lyles out there things opened up.

Can Boris diaw just be released... he should not be playing at all. Just awful out there.

Can't say enough about the effort by our guys. Ingles played like a defensive ace and Trey Lyles was a stud off the bench. I love that he didn't let his earlier 3 point misses stop him from shooting them. Both of them are huge reasons for our win

You gotta hand it to Jingles and Snyder especially for the defensive scheming on Lebron- stick our stronger defenders on their secondary scorers and have Lebron deal with the Australian Lebron. Joe held his own quite well on a few possessions.

Yeah, that one where he stripped LeBron on a drive down the middle late in the game when they called a foul, it was all ball. The replay clearly showed it and then the Cavs announcer says it was a foul. He had all ball.

When they run PnR with Favors or post him up, then yeah, the spacing isn't ideal. However, the impact of those plays compared to our total offense is minimal, and it's up to Quin how he plays with Favors. When Favors is knocking down jumpers from the top of the key, there is nothing wrong with our spacing compared to having 4 guys at the 3 point line.

When our entire team is shooting like crap, sometimes it's a good idea to try and get something going inside, and Favors can take advantage of certain matchups. I think sometimes Quin tries to get something going inside when the team can't shoot, and fans mistake that for the team can't shoot because of Favors.

Let's not pretend Utah never gets open jump shots when Rudy and Favors play together. The point isn't that Favors playing with Rudy never affects spacing. The point is that how much of a problem it is, is and always been blown way out of proportion.

If Favors takes up all the backup center minutes, that leaves what, 14-18 minutes a game that Rudy and Derrick play together? And during that time, they don't both need to be playing under the basket, since Favors has range to the top of the key, which isn't a big deal at all with 3 other players that can shoot the 3.

The spacing issue certainly isn't significant enough to trade Favors away and sacrifice the defense he brings. Come playoff time, that Gobert/Favors defensive front is going to be key for Utah winning a series or two.

Statement Win!!!!

ESPN said:
Hayward helps Jazz hold off LeBron, beat Cavs 100-92

The highlight video to go with the story:

- Kyle Korver makes his Cavs debut, they show his only bucket.
- Apparently nothing else happened in the first half, they skip that entirely.
- 3rd quarter, LeBron slam, LeBron steal, LeBron deep three, LeBron struts. #SCTop10.
- Hayward hits consecutive threes in response
- 4th Quarter, Love hits a three off LeBron's pass (one of his four baskets, but hey, LeBron pass, right?)
- Shumpert dunks off LeBron's pass (his only bucket, but LeBron, huh?)
- Hood hits corner three
- Jazz win at home

Let's not pretend Utah never gets open jump shots when Rudy and Favors play together. The cavs were intentionally leaving Lyles wide open for the first part of the game, and he was throwing up bricks, before he got things going.

Spacing is an issue... and not the only issue. Favs isn't knocking down the jumper enough and I think we might be just as good defensively when we are small. I just don't know that we could commit the long term money to keep him... he seems more luxury than necessity imo.

They should give it time but I think we go in a different direction long term.

Hayward and Gobert so deserve to be in the All Star Game this year. I've honestly never seen a quantum leap year to year from one player like this, let alone two.

Well he is making progress and he may be the best backup center in the league, but I have to admit that I'm not completely sold either on Favors being the perfect compliment to Gobert on the front line. I thought when Atlanta backed out of a Millsap for Faried trade that perhaps the Jazz were in the conversation but it sounds as though that ship has sailed (Millsap off the block). He had a better stat line tonight than against Memphis but his plus minus was worst on the team. How was the D?

Statement game for Hayward. He showed up for a BIG game. Ive been critical when hes let down, and will PRAISE here. THIS is the Hayward we need ALL the time.

-Hood returns to form
-Gobert is a big time player, big step this year
-Lyles hitting those 3s.
-Hill is so damn good. His demeanor is that of a champion.

Favors is going to play all of the minutes when Favors is the center instead of Rudy. On top of that most of those minutes will be without other main starters. Sooo... yeah that's gunna happen

I think that there are few players in the league that can do what Favs is going to do for us. He can step in and back up Rudy and play with him. Favs is 2 for the price of 1. So long as he can stay healthy I think DL can easily justify paying him.

lol those cavs anouncers jsut like boston anouncers are beyond homers!!!!!!!!!

i eman you can be a homer, but when a foul is called and there is no such thing, they still claim it was a foul. i hate those kinda anouncers

If Hayward missed a wide open layup and 3 pointer in the last 5 minutes you would be asking if Hayward was actually a good player.

Hill does it and no criticism.

Interesting.
