What's new

Hayward made all stars!!!!!!!!!

Guys, coaches already know Gobert is the best center in the league.
But this is more about rewarding good teams (or avoid snubbing them). They picked Gasol and DJ, because otherwise no one else from LAC and MEM makes it.

Gasol definitely deserved to make it this year. CP3 also deserved to make it. I also think an argument could be made for Conley (especially as an injury replacement for CP3.)

Gasol has improved offensively but regressed defensively.
1.03 DRPM compared to Gobert's 4.56... 6.4 rebounds in 34 minutes. That's a center who previously won DPOY. Still he's all-star material with his playmaking and shooting but he's not better than Gobert or KAT.

Nice to be on the national radar again. Hayward acquitted himself quite nicely in the postgame interview (Laker game). All of a sudden Utah is relevant again, and the Gobert snub did not go unnoticed by Chris Weber and Kevin Harlan.

Yep.

If y'all think that All-Star selections are based on a strict meritocracy, then how strong is the crack you're smoking? Since most of you don't believe that, why the **** do we need to talk about this?

The Hombres/Political Insiders of the selection process were not going to let Gobert make his first All-Star game before DAJ. Crazy people believed that it might be otherwise.

I can't quite articulate how happy I am for Gordon Hayward.

I dont think there's a worse feeling out there than working hard and not being gratified for it-- and it's hard to think of a lot of players out there who've worked their *** off more in these last couple of years than Gordon.

He wanted this so bad, and it was just super neat watching him smile as he talked about finally hitting that plateau.

He made the team in a stacked conference, and not because of another player getting injured (he would've made it even if every western conference player was healthy). He belongs in that group, and I couldn't be happier for him. Good for him, good for the Jazz. We finally got ourselves an all-star :)

I think this makes it more likely he stays. As dalamon said, he made the team in a stacked conference. So he can get national recognition, get paid more, and can remain with teammates he likes. Unless the two GH's leave together, I think he will re-sign with the Jazz.

Could George hills price be dropping do to his recent drop off in play and his injuries this year?
I hope so.

Perhaps. Or maybe he wants to make sure Hayward is returning before he re-signs.

Other possibility is DL wants to keep cap available in case there's a trade that arises.

Maybe baby steps but still a huge step towards recognition and respect for the Jazz. Couldn't be anyone more fitting than Hayward to take this first big step. Congrats Lebron of LoL.

I also think it plays into Utah's favor that Hayward made the ASG. Also works into their favor that Gobert did not lol.

maybe refs will stop swallowing their whistles so often now. Star-Calls gotta kick in at some point.

I actually think Hayward may be able to do well in the ASG...it's all about alley-oop dunks and Hayward has been pretty good at that all year.

its less of a Rudy >>> DJ than it is that Cousins just shouldnt be in the ASG.

I can accept anthony davis, because the fan's vote counts and thats who they wanted... but it's not right to otherwise put a guy on who's team is 10 games below .500

Hayward takes the 14th most free throws per game this season. This does not suggest to me that refs are, by and large, swallowing their whistles when it comes to Hayward.

Agreed. I feel like he does a good job at drawing fouls and the refs are pretty fair with hayward.
