Grizzlies @ Jazz, 7:00pm MT, (1900 hrs) Game 49

They didn't look very energetic in the first half. No.

lol. You know you're dealing with a deuce when they try to make their overreactions/overstatements real.

Bad loss, but it ain't because they weren't trying. Dude.

Hayward played like garbage. Gobert got lit up. The effort wasn't what it needed to be. Deuce.

Those Gasol 3's were killers, you had a team that is a below average 3 point shooting team come in and shoot lights out. Give them credit they took it to us.

Are they really? They have 3 deadly shooters in Daniels, Gasol, and Conley and a lot of their role players like Carter, Green, and Ennis are above 35%.

What a frustrating game.

I don't get to watch a lot of games but I got the delight of watching this one. Yay!

Guess I just don't understand Snyder circling this game for a Favors rest day. This is the grindhouse crew and only one guy on our roster can slow Zebo down and he was on sabbatical. Real headscratcher.

It wasn't a planned rest day. Apparently he warmed up and decided he just couldn't go tonight for whatever reason.

That was a hard game to watch, and not just because Steve Brown was doing commentary.

Same problems as always. We can't stop the opposition PG, and we can't guard the rim when the opposition have a good outside shooting big man to pull Rudy away from the basket (see also: the Orlando game plan). Added to that, Z-Bo exploited Favors' absence (again), and he also killed us on the boards, getting a couple of tip-ins in the last quarter, just like last time they played here.

I've said it before, will say it again: our biggest weakness is at the backup 4/5, where we don't have anyone who can come in to replace Gobert and/or Favors with the ability to defend and rebound. Withey can play C in short bursts, but Lyles and Diaw are only able to play as small-ball PFs.

how did you determined that "effort" was the key variable here?
Maybe if you paid attention you'd understand. I don't feel the need to explain the difference between missing long 2s and layups. And on defense letting your player shoot wide open shots. That's the lack of effort.

@cappy smurf (and, for the record, DownUnder liked the post)

lol you haven't entertained the thought that Alec despite his obvious gifts isn't a good fit for this team's structure and style ? I think Jingles has proved far more complimentary and effective with the other players than Alec.

He's about the only one who played worth a damn on the bench today. Ingles was hot garbage tonight, but not the sort of garbage Lyles was.

Hopefully some rest will do this team well. They need it, and a good kick in the ***.

I don't get that impression at all watching the games. Burks has been a pleasant surprise since his return, and I'm glad to have him with the second unit.
