What's new

Chicago SHOULD trade Jimmy Butler; and we SHOULD be there with the right package.

I'd give my left nut for someone like butler on the Jazz. Only players I wouldn't give up are hay and Rudy.
Anyone else if it could get it done.
I'm probably dreaming.....

Buter would turn us from a team that could get out the first round to a team that could get out of the second round. We should be willing to give up anyone not named Hill, Hayward, and Gobert for him. Sucks though because I think the Celtics could beat anything we can put out there.

I am not sure because hood and Burks are proven talents.
Curry
Klay
Durant
Draymond
Whoever.

But ya, that jazz starting five would be right there at the top.

I'm a total rookie at this but looking at the pieces on each team, maybe something like this?

Utah gets; Butler
Chicago gets; Brooklyns 1st rnd pick + Hood/Burks
Celtics get; Favors, Whithey

Utah gets the big fish
Chicago get a talented wing and top 3 pick to kick start rebuild
Celtics solve their rebounding/rim protection problem

Side note. I love the make up of this team and happy to ride it out.

Chicago can still race toward the bottom in a stacked draft class, get a haul for Jimmy B, and reboot fairly quickly.

Jimmy, Hay, and Rudy is a young and nasty Big 3. And Hill is the right guy to round them out.

Maybe he can just punch a chair instead of getting traded in order to tank properly. The result: Stacked Draftclass high picks plus you get to keep one of the few best two-dimensional players in the league.

I just see no reason they do that. No chance at a super-star in that package. They are going to want a lottery pick. Boston is the only team IMO who can really make a fair offer for him. I think they are just leaking these rumors to get other teams to send offers to get Boston to deal both picks.

Chicago's dream scenario is clearly getting a decent offer from a team like Utah then parlaying that to pressure Boston. If that doesnt work, I'm sure they just dont do any deal. I just see no logical reason to deal Butler when it's clear EVERYTHING wrong with that team is the fault of the GM. Fire the GM and fire Hoiberg (because that relationship is probably past the point of recovery). Get rid of Rondo. Go from there.

this. i couldn't agree more with the OP, but i just don't think the Jazz can get Butler without giving up Hayward or Rudy. Perhaps Favors, Hood, Exum and a 1st or two if Chicago is desperate enough - they should certainly ask - but i don't see Chicago doing it unless they get a bonafide star in return.

Butler is a diva nowadays, he is not the same humble kid out of Marquette. He is constantly criticizing management and his teammates. The Jazz would not deal Hayward or Gobert straight up for him (and the Bulls would want more than anyways).

Man if they could do it for literally anyone on the roster not named hay or Rudy, they absolutely have to.

I bet chicago would rather have Lyles than favors at this point, but what the hell, just give them both, and exum, and Greg millers hair.

And some draft picks

How about Hayward for him?

Hood, Favors, Exum, & a future protected first.

That's about as good as we could do. We then use our two draft picks this year to make a play towards a PF

Boston will edge our offer

They wouldn't. Boston doesnt want to give those picks up. They probably feel like they can sign FA without having to give up stuff. Chicago just wouldn't take our deal. I doubt they deal Jimmy to anyone.

But what if they did though? Would Boris start? Or Lyles?
Or play small ball. Start jj. Or burks.

Hill
Burks
Hayward
Butler
Rudy

Hill
Hayward
Butler
JJ
Rudy

Butler is on another tier among SFs. He currently is #1 in the league on RPM and WINS. Not saying he's better than Lebron and Durant but he's a complete two-way player and a true #1 option that will shine in the right environment.

CHI have a terrible FO and cheap ownership. That's the root of all problems they've been going through. They may think the roster is beyond repair and consider blowing it up and we should take advantage of the situation if we can with all the assets we have except Gobert and undervalued ones like Burks, Favors, Exum etc.

[] Hayward and UTA's 2017 1st, OKC's pick for Butler
