I noticed he seemed to often beat his man off the dribble. He doesn't strike me as particularly quick, but there must be some reason why he has that first step.

Until today, Hayward never beat his man off the dribble. The few times he did, he had the ball on the wing. He would recognize that his man was giving him baseline and he would take it. AK does this very well. It's an opportunistic drive, and you want to see that in a player.

Hayward rarely, if ever, drove. When he did, you would see him dribble toward the top of the key with no idea of penetrating. The main issue was he never used his left hand to take what most defenders give him every game. Tonight he used it very well. Teams will guard him differently if he keeps doing it, but being able to go right or left makes him very dangerous. I want to see more of this.

Watson clear out on Fisher/no call = my favorite play ever. Haven't stopped laughing. Suck on that, Fisher.

I thought for sure they would give that little flopper a call on that play. I am glad they didn't. He was certainly whining after it. He was also whining after the the refs reviewed whose possession it was when it went off his hands and gave it to the Jazz. I really dislike that guy.

This. Particularly after Fisher's ridiculous whining forced a stoppage in play for review on a ball he had clearly, obviously knocked out of bounds. It wasn't even close. Dude's "good guy" act is so tired.

The whole Lakers team was whining but Fisher still was in the ref's ear even after they reviewed it

This is one thing he also needs to work on in the off season, developing a shot while driving. His offensive repertoire right now is driving to the hole, catch and shoot, and a pull up off a dribble on the pick and roll. On those plays you mention, a few of them have happened at the end of the shot clock, and he'd take clumsy shots or travel. He hasn't been able to get points with guys closely on him on the drive. Develop a runner, fall-away, pump fake, step back, things like that. Potent possibilities if he does. Look at Millsap's development. That step back has made him much more valuable a player.

Im' surprised Hayward got the call at the end, when do you see jazz going to the free throw line late in the game vs. Lakers, that never happens. Hayward must be the chosen one.

Read through the Laker Forums its the BEST FUN EVER. They claiming Hayward getting superstar foul calls and they are thrashing Kobe. It's also fun to see that many laker fans are also calling this the "worst lost of the year". Only a few of them admitted Hayward worked Kobe. LOL

Hayward looked like a freaking point guard the way he was breaking down the defense and dishing off for easy baskets, or kicking it out for the open three. Can you imagine having a point guard and a shooting guard that can break down a defense, and dish off to the bigs for easy baskets or kick it out for the open three. I am still hoping for a good small forward and point guard in the draft, that can create their own shot and stroke the 3 point shot. I think we have our elusive shooting guard we have been searching for. HAYWARD

The way the guys like McHale, Webber, and the other guy were talking about him, you'd think as such.

Where's the point guard that will do that?

I'M NOT ALONE!!! Everyone always gushes about what a "good guy" Fisher is, but he reeks of phony.

I think my favorite part of Hayward is that when he penetrates he hasn't already decided to shoot. He keeps his head up, and if the pass is a better option he is willing to pass(unlike CJ). An unselfish slasher is a hard thing to come by in the NBA.

I like the comments that Favors is > than Pau. I wouldn't go that far yet, but favors is showing A LOT for a man so young. I just love his instinct to play defense and rebound coupled with a decent offensive game.

Love that huge block on Gasol's layup by Favors... the way he elevated for rebounds and the way he competed with Bynum and Gasol for offensive boards showed us some more flashes of how good he can be.

Where's the point guard that will do that?

In this years draft:

First - Kyrie Irving, in only 11 games during the regular season he scored 17.5 pts. per game, shot 46.2% on 3 pt. shots and averaged 4.3 assist per game.
Second - Brandon Knight scored 17.3 pts. per game, shot 37.7% on 3 point shots and averaged 4.2 assist per game.
Third - Kemba Walker - scored 23.5 pts per game, shot 33%b on 3 point shots and averaged 4.5 assist per game.

There is a great chance we could get Brandon or Kemba with our first pick, or possibly one of them with our second pick, if we got lucky with the ping pong balls we might even get Kyrie.

And next years (2012) mock drafts are loaded with point guards in the top 15.
